Online monster

Post by Kaakao »

This is something I and my friends decided to try, online monster. 6 players, Normandy 6/1944, U.S. landings, 16000 vs. 8000 points :D

The U.S. players are Baldur, Kez and Mahonen. Kaakao, DerC and Orvelo are playing the German side.

This is going to be very interesting and if this works out ok, we're sure to continue these monster battles.

And now to the game.

Turn 0 is over, there are LOTS of landing ships but we're ready. During bombarment we (Germans) lost only one PZ-IV and one Kuebelwagon when the U.S. lost 2 P-51D and 2 other P-51D used most of their rockets to nothing. I let the others to continue from here.

Ah yes. This will certainly be a long game, since we can maybe play one or two turns at a time when all six of us are around. However we set some limits on artillery, max 20% of total points to arty, and the Germans were allowed 3 offboard batteries, the Americans six. The Americans were also given two air sections. We made some preparations regarding the aircraft. We set up tons of AA guns around the map and put Kuebelwagens around our tanks too so that the planes would attack them instead. And it payed off :D

This is the biggest SOB game I have ever played... everything is working fine, but it seems to eat a LOT of bandwith... I wonder why.... ;) well...36 turns to go.

Yes, it took maybe 10-15 minutes to get the game start after deploy :) But this is going to be worth it :D

Accuracy of German AA was shocking, Matrixgames seems to have finally boosted AA-accuracy to realistic levels. Good for the game but not good for us :)

In 7.0 they wouldn't have hitted our planes even once, now they got downed 2 planes and several hits to 2 others. We'll see if they have enough guts to try another run.

Another thing was the amount of offboard artillery we were able to get, only 2 Battleships, 1 Cruiser and 1 Destroyer before they all were disabled by rarity. Not anywhere near the amount I would have liked on Assault.
And ships don't have any smokerounds and no other kind of artillery available until we get to the shore, it's gonna be one bloody assault.

I tried to get more Arty by buying some onboard Mortar-ships and Rocket-ships, but in deploy I noticed something, they aren't considered artillery byt normal guns. So now I have ships with 4x4.5In Rockets and 4x 81mm Mortars which can't fire as artillery. Well, I'll try to use them with indirect-fire button.

On sidenote, I had bought 4 Rocketlaunchers (Onboard). They didn't fit into any ships (weight 255), so I had to leave them float on the water with one ammotruck near them :)

And they work great even they should be right in bottom of the sea :p

Oh yes those naval guns are great when they have the ammo :) There seems to be a huge wave of Rangers and Sherman Flails coming towards our shore, we're ready, come and get some  !

Yeah. I hope everyone will remember to show up as we agreed. I've been a bit busy with my pbem games so I haven't had time to think a lot about this one yet. Hopefully it will unfold :)

So we managed to play one turn. Not much happened. It looks like the Americans tried to fool us by sending in some empty landing craft in the northern sector of the map. Their other loaded ships are approaching further south. Just hugging the ground because of the bombardment and moving reservers on the German side.

Yes, nothing special on turn one, just watching the ships coming closer and some direct & indirect bombardment.

Turn 1 over. Not much happened, except for those two poor Kübelwagens that were destroyed by our flak-guns. :)

We'll probably continue tomorrow if everybody shows up.

Allright... so we WON'T be continuing soon. Summer vacation and everybody runs away from their computers, eh? ;)

Besides, I lost the save file while I was "clearing" (format D:/q) my HD :D
