Meeting of the Devils Scenario

Post by brucha »

I really like the scenario, "Meeting of the Devils" and its follow up scenario, but I have come to the decision that it is impossible to get any victory better than 'Marginal" - in fact, of the three times that I have played it, I had two draws and only one marginal victory. Last night, while I was playing the scenario, I was trying to link up my units west of the river to the east. I was literally held up for three turns by an single Italian garrison unit and a single German HMG which were both sitting out in the open on the bridge! I had 2 platoon HQ's, 2 LMG's and four squads pouring everything they had on the the two enemy units. Yet, even after the first two turns of supressing fire, the first squad that I advanced to clear the HMG out was torn to shreds. I was forced to spend another turn simply destroying both units, and I suffered a great deal of losses from the HMG.

In the end, the battle was a draw. Has anyone else had similar results with this scenario?

Are you using Enhanced DVRN?

I played using version 8.403 without Enhanced. In scenario 036 I was able to achieve a Decisive Victory with these settings for both sides:

Searching, hitting, rout/rally, tank toughness, infantry toughness, artillery vs soft, artillery vs armor, spec op fire freq 100%

All Realism Preferences on except CC off.

Scenario 037 seems to be a tougher nut to crack though.
