New to the Forums, a few questions....

Post by tauryx »

First of all I would like to say I am new on this board. So Howdy Ya'll (Texas).

Anyway I was searching for the Old Talon Soft Games West Front etc... to see if I could find a patch to allow me to play my old games on Win XP or Win Vista.
I was happy to find the games have updated and re-leased as I have really missed them.

I was thinking about buying the game for download. But I have some questions.
If I download and comp crashes as they do sometimes would I be able to download the same copy w/o paying again?

Can I download it on two computers, my pc & laptop? And has the windows vista issue been resolved? my laptop runs vista my pc runs xp sp2.

Could I download it to a CD rom to have a hardcopy backup?

Have all the patches & updates been added to the current download copy or would I need download them myself also?

OR should I just spend the extra 10 bucks and do the download/hardcopy option? and Wait a couple months possibly for my hardcopy?

whew I can really pepper those questions!

Any help is appreciated and I hope to begin playing the games again soon and keeping up in the forums.

Excellent to hear! It is a classic series!

There is an option, I believe, when you download to have that as an extra feature. Otherwise, you can burn it to a CD or thumbdrive for storage.

Yes you can. But you cannot play a game against the separate installs.

Yes. The game works fine under Vista and XP.

Yes, you can.

I would venture to say no, so you would have to download the latest updates. There is a new one coming soon, the 1.03 UPDATE, so keep your eyes open for that if you choose to pick it up.

Depends how important a hardcopy manual is to you. It is being redone anyway for the 1.03 UPDATE.

thanks for the speedy response. when I asked if I could download on two comps. I should have specified that I guess I was asking If I purchased download option; I could first download to pc then right after follow same trail and download to laptop. like downloading twice with same purchase?

anyway I am leaning towards the download/hardcopy option, I do like having reference manuals handy, getting a playable copy soon and saving to Disc or flash drive. Then waiting for the hardcopy w/ manual. how large is the file download?

also I assume I can also save updates and patches to CD-Roms and thumbdrives/flash drives for backup copies?

thanks again for answering my inquiries.

I'm not sure. Possibly if you opted for the download option that allows you to do that, then it shouldn't be a problem. It costs more though, 10.00 or so? I have never done, so I don't know.

300MB or so. Little more maybe.
