Feb 28th 1945.........

Speedy hit Rabaul with 180 Superforts ....Killing my small ambush force there....still, no sign that he want to retake Wewak.....so a bit of a waste anyway.......

Re-took Keivieng(sp).........and will look to retake Hollandia(sp)....bad spelling day(like they all aren't)

A small SAG(Ashigara,a CL and 4DDs) slipped into the base on the other side of the island to Taan(can't remember it's name...please send brains).......Ashigara, the CL and one of the DDs hit my own mines on the way in(don't you hate that).......and then in the combat round.....I sank 2 DEs and a SC.....the transports escaped..........the DD that had struck a mine was caught by Allied bombers and sunk when the sun came up..........the CL has 25float.....but should make port.......Ashigara is fine.........

March 1-5th 1945.........

A series of turns with hard fought air battles for Hong Kong/Canton.......which has left me short of around 350-400 aircraft....and also caused me to abandon the airfields of Southern China.........

Meanwhile the HI raids have continued.........I put 200+ mixed fighters(all 65-70 exp......Frank Cs/Georges/Jacks.....against 2000 Mustangs......the result 200 dead Jap fighters vs 30 lost Mustangs.........and then the 466 Superforts came in....and scored big .......the end result is that 5 more turns like the 5th of March will end the war.....

Steven seems to have put all his ships in port ......and is waiting for his LRB to close the victory........and I fear it won't be long.....

I would obviously like him to Invade Formosa.........for I still have a fleet to contest such a landing........but why would he.......I wouldn't.......4-8 more big air raids will end the war.......

Time to pack away all the Monet's/Degas'/etc......and head for cooler climbs.........

We have reached March 16th 1945...........

The last 10 days have mostly comprised me being bombed........and losing hundrfeds of fighters to Mustang sweeps over the HI.....

Speedy is a few hundred points away from autovic.........although he did remind me the autovic check happens at the end of the month......so we have about 15 turns left to play.......there is a real sense of shuting down now........Steven is doing little except bombing across the map.......and despite me having powerfull fleet elements.....I have no way of using the well.......as they had been prep-ing to oppose the Formosa invasion.....which will not not happen........

I will look to give you a summary of the war...... once it is over........

What a shame -- it would have been nice to go out with a bang.[:D]
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

March 19th 1945.......

Today, as the rain fell, I pulled on my best dress uniform and prepared myself to face what few followers I have remaining......15 or so trusted staff walked with me to the docks where a submarine(one of only 10 remaining) waited........Lacrimosa was there to greet me......and after some stoic farewells(the staff, not Lacrimosa)......we departed for a small un-named Island near the South Pole(but not too near)...with little except the clothes on our backs and a massive amount of precious artworks and a great vat of Yankee gold plundered in the last 3 years........

I will not be there for the capitulation....but instead will plan my revenge(AE style)..........

Autovic has come.........

I must say.....well played Steven....it has been a pleasure and a privilege to play such a fine, fair and.....well....human opponent(which doesn't mean I won't kick your *ss next time)......

Pleae don't tell Steven....as I think..... he doesn't know as of yet.......

I will do whatever debriefing you readers may like....Including(if wanted) a list of mistakes.......and my take on Speedy's fine strategy.........but I will leave the song to rtrapasso......as Bob has a way with songs........

The war is over.........and I for one......will miss it.

When you have a chance, can you show some stats (you know how much I like stats [:D]) such as some stuff from the intel screen, etc.?

This was an absolutely first rate game -played by both sides in a great way
Found it amusing how Penguins AARs got shorter, and shorter , and the ............... got ........................longer........................................................and longer.

Well done, AARs a great credit to you both, any Japanese player who goes to the end -and publically keeps telling us -deserves all the wine they can smuggle to the pole.

Already looking forward to the revenge of the penguin

Congratulations on a good game, well and honorably played, and good luck on your getaway. The South Pole should be a good place from which to plot revenge. It is, after all, a dish best served cold.
