My CVE Air Group Disappeared!?

Post by Capt Cliff »

I transfered a refugee air group, from the Yorktown which was sunk off PM, to the Long Island (CVE). The next turn the air group was gone! Now I did the transfer while the Long Island was at sea. Basicallly I ran the Long Lisland over to Brisbane, she was about 4 hexes from Brisbane, I transfered the air group, which was at Brisbane, then headed for Noumea. The next turn poof, they were gone. The Long Island was still at sea. Do air group transfers to ships have to be done in port? Should this go into the bug report?

Cliff,

There was another discussion about this very same thing. I can't recall the explanation (or solution or whatever), but a search may turn it up.

So far, I've been able to use the Long Island as a ferry without any problems. Weird, I know.

Yes, and I already named it the BSB - the "Bermuda Syndrom Bug". :D

Did you load them in port? Or out at sea?

I've been using the Long Island to ferry fighters from Brisbane (my only source presently) to near Luganville, at which point I transfer them to Lunga.

Short answer: Yes, I pick them up in port at Brisbane. No problems so far (but don't think I don't check that ship every single turn expecting them to disappear! :) )

A little too far south, I think. Shouldn't that be the "Long Island Syndrome Bug"?. :D :D :D :D

and reported it earlier with that CVE. It was never resolved in that game. In my current game I have a marine fighter squadron onboard and they havent vanished so I hope it was a one time deal.

Is it just one particular CVE?

I'm loosing planes too. A squadron of 24 just became 4...and no action took place.

Also, nothing in the manual about using CVE's that I've found.

Worr, out

Long Island CVE transport capacity is 16. Put a 24 plane squadron in there and bad things might happen.

Opps, I should have posted this in another thread. It is close enough to this one that I will leave it here anyway.

I had something alone the same lines happen.

I transferred all my level bombers and zeros from Rabaul to Lae. When I got there most of my pilots disappeared. I didn't worry about it because of discussions here of how the computer will replace my pilots.

So I planned my bombing missions. Then, eh gads, I noticed I lost like 19 planes to operational mishaps. It turned out my experienced pilots had been replaced with rookie greenhorns with 25 level experience. Pilots that can't even take off or land without massive numbers of crashes. Not a good experience in the middle of an intense, tight PBEM that could go either way.

I hope the patch will take care of this problem.
