Possible bug in Fortress Keflavik scenario

Post by ird »

Just been playing the above scenario in the GIUK battleset - I sunk the soviet carrier with my surface fleet and managed to infiltrate to the inner ring of the Soviet fleet with my two Oberon Class subs which I had split. I fired my entire arsenal (32 in total) of Mk 24 Tigerfish at the merchants and LSTs - they all missed. Their was no display to show them missing, they just disappeared from view after a couple of minutes. I fired at a range of about 4nm - the hit probability should have been 60%.

Am I missing something or is this a bug???

You wouldn't happen to have a saved game from as close as possible before you fired the torps would you?  Or worse but still useful, while the torps are swimming towards the targets?  HC3@harpgamer.com

Unfortunately not - I realise now that what I should have done was use a new name for the save game but I've saved over my previous position after the subs have moved away.

I did fire the torpedoes from deep. Would this have had any effect as I was at such close range? Or am I just clutching at straws to try to find an explanation????

Firing from Deep wouldn't have much effect.  I'm thinking more that the distances ended up being too great for the torps to catch most of the targets.  That said, I haven't tried it out either to get more concrete results.

I might try the scenario again to see if I can recreate it. Depends how motivated I feel later - no guarantees I'll be able to get my subs in so close again and it might mean a lot of effort in vain!!!

He who shall not be named has found those torpedoes to work fine.  Looking forward to what you find as well ird but at least someone as has taken a look at it.

Naturally he found another bug (thankfully we had fixed it already)

Or maybe I just suffered the worst sequence of odds ever. Man, glad I didn't do the lottery that week
