tester volunteers

Gary Grigsby’s World at War is back with a whole new set of features. World at War: A World Divided still gives complete control over the production, research and military strategy for your side, but in this new updated version you’ll also be able to bring spies into the mix as well as neutral country diplomacy, variable political events and much more. Perhaps the largest item is the ability to play a special Soviet vs. Allies scenario that occurs after the end of World War II.

tester volunteers

Post by WanderingHead »

Any volunteers for testing, preferably old testers with the NDA signed and all that?

I'd like proactive testing. By this I mean, don't just play the game but actually proactively exercise some of the changes and look for problems. Although I think I do a pretty good job testing on my own, I've made enough changes that I can see the potential for problems I could miss.

I fixed the issue with the date of victory evaluation, but it was pretty intertwined with some less than optimal code sequencing. It was difficult to extricate it correctly while leaving the Continue Game options working. In the process, I also found and fixed what appeared to be a long-standing bug with the WA v Soviet continuation (doesn't the VP threshold display incorrectly for everyone if you get to WA v Sov via continuation, as opposed to directly via the 1946 scenario?).

There are numerous other things that are worthy of a little testing.

Bryan you can count with me, send me the updates and I will give them a go, if you can tell me what exactly needs to be tested or looked at, the better. I'll try to find anything not consistent playing against the AI and I might even start a pbem game.
You already go t my mail.

Regards.

I'd be willing to make specific tests, but I'm not part of the old testing team. NDAs shouldn't be hard to send back and forth though.

Thanks for volunteering to test. I wrote Joel about the NDAs, and he said it would be fine for me to send updates to non-NDA'd testers as long as I build it with the usual registry security checks. So it should be just as secure against piracy (spreading across the internet for free) as the regular executable.

So, I think anyone who has been pretty active in the forum, so I at least recognize your username, is fair game!
