Quick Question

Post by SmilinJack »

I'm trying the arcade game for the first time (quick play exh) and my controller shows up in the controll choices but when I drag it over and try to advance to the next screen it just sit there.

I'm using a Logitech dual sticks (12 button?) USB.

Any ideas?

Hmm well 12 buttons shouldn't be a problem. The 360 controller has 12 buttons (well two are triggers but still).

Is this the controller you have?

I may have to go and buy one to try out.

I assume that when you drag it over, that the background changes to either red or blue (depending on the side) and that the controller setting now reads ARCADE ?

Hi David,

Yes that is exactly the controller I have. I change it to Arcade drag over the controller, it turns blue...but will not launch to the next screen? It reads the controller, but it cannot be used to make the team selection, I have to drag it over.

Hi.

So I purchased one of these controllers and tried it out. It seems to work okay. I can advance to the next screens.

Are you using it with, or with out the drivers that come with it? I did not use the drivers. But will try them if you're using them to see if there's a problem there.

This is also a question I have: "I change it to Arcade drag over the controller..." Do you change to arcade THEN move the controller (which you shouldn't be able to do), or do you drag and drop the controller to change the game mode to arcade?

thanks
David

Hi David,

I uninstalled the drivers completely. I then rebooted and let Windows find it via USB ... booted the game and it works perfectly[:)].

I'm sorry you bought the thing. But all is well.

I'll make it up to you. I'm going to buy 2.0 for a buddy soon anyway, so hope that helps.

I have a question.

If someone has a Logitech Dual Action, does the icon show with the Playstation controller graphic?

If someone has an XBox PC Controller, does the icon show with the XBox controller graphic?

I have seen both graphic icons, but I don't have either controller.

The game only has two controller icons. The 360 icon, and a generic one.

It shows the 360 graphcis and uses the 360 button icons. Only the 360 controller will show this.

All other controllers use a generic graphics that looks a bit like the PlayStation. The button icons are generic ones.

I have the logitech controller as well.  I haven't been able to play in a while.  Has the problem with being able to switch players been fixed (with this controller, not 360)?

Do you mean jump to the defender that is closest to the ball? Yes, that's been fixed. I'm pretty sure I had that working for v2.1 but it certainly works for v2.2

I have a Logitech Chillstream Xbox 360 controller. My computer crashed and I had to get a Vista [:@] I installed Maximum Football last nite. Well now Max does not recognize it as an Xbox360 controller, but as an XUSB controller. When I go to the controller select screen it shows a picture of a PS2 like gamepad. Now it does not give me the option use trigger passing. I used to have an XP and it worked fine. I contacted Logitech, but the haven't been much help so far.
Thanks,

Hmm well I'm not sure why that would happen. Why would logitech have the device would report different names when used on XP or vista.

If you can take a screen grab of the screen with the controller selected (so I can see the name on the bottom corner) I'll see if there's something that can be done. It depends on how logitech is reporting their device.

thanks

RE: Quick Question

Hi.

I spoke to Logitech developer support. It's a windows device so they're not too keen on helping out, but this is what I could gleam from them.

The logitech controller reports itself as an Xbox360 contoller on WinXP due to the XUSB Drivers not realizing it's not a microsoft device. To word that a different way, it sounds like logitech is making use of a bug in the microsoft XP driver to fool the OS into thinking a 360 controller is attached.

The reason it doesn't work on Vista is because that bug was fixed.

Either that or the two different OS' simply reports XUSB devices in two different ways (which is lovely for compatiblity[8|])

I ~think~ I can work around this problem and still have the device recognized by the game as a 360 device. I just need to look for both types of device. I'll let you know if that works out.

thanks for reporting this..

David

On a semi humorous side note, the guy from logitech blamed microsoft and told me I should be talking to them lol

Perhaps you should talk with Microsoft.

Here is the access to their complaint department:
