Wives and combat games

SPWaW is a tactical squad-level World War II game on single platoon or up to an entire battalion through Europe and the Pacific (1939 to 1945).

Well I do not know about the rest of you

But my girl friend (who I live with) definetly gets jealous of the computer at times. She also hates to go to bed alone. I have one of those nice swivel and lean back computer chairs. So some of the things that she will do to get me away from the computer is to jump into my lap and wiggle her bum around sort of like a little lap dance at your computer. Well she does not have to do this long before I am leading her to the bed room. She will also some times when I am really deep into a game and she wants me to come to bed will put on a little baby doll out fit and then prance around the living room distracting me until I give up and shut the computer down.

Other tactics she uses is to cook a really good dinner. (I love to eat and she knows it)

My Canadian friends allways tell this joke, What do you call someone who speaks two languages, Bi-lingual. What do you call someone who speaks one language. An American. They always laugh no matter how many times they tell it.

My wife usually limits her interference to poking her head through the door of the den, hear all the noise of combat, and ask if we didn't already win that war. That and asking if I will get off so she can get on and play backgammon online. Got a second computer so the kids wouldn't tie up the computer chatting with all their friends because, as they say, it's not cool to talk on the phone anymore. Wondering if the wife would be interesting springing for a third computer????

My wife really likes the sounds from Return to Castle Wolfenstein. She will show up in the basement calling for a medic or screaming for ammo every time she comes down to check my pulse.

The only thing she ever said in relation to SPWaW was, "Does it always have to sound like a battlefield up here?". This was when my PC was upstairs in the spare bedroom. Why do you thing I'm in the basement now???

I think the comments "my ex" and "my first wife" tell it all ...

I tried explaining SPWAW to my wife once...she got that little wrinkle between her eyebrows. I quit while I was ahead.

No way to male my girl like or even understand spwaw. When i tell her(not that often) what an incredible orgasmus is to take out a Matilda with a PzIII,or a KV with a good tank strategy she just say something like "the boys who love the war are boring.U are boring 'because you consider the Gun of your tank a continuation of your penis". As u can imagine there's a lot of space for replying. We do not live togheder, but when she comes visiting me for some days.....I had to wait untill she falls asleep,go into my room, turn on spwaw,a good cigarette,a cup of coffea.....and for 3 hours at least i can play!:)

Well, my GF actually likes this game...

At first she did not understand how I can spend hours with game 'about killing'. So I showed it to her. It looked like chess to her, and she wanted (with girlish enthusiasm :D ) to learn to play SP...

I know, she's special.. She lend my copy of von Manstein's 'Lost Victories' (that book ;) ) as she wanted to read some chapters..

Wives...

Post by BruceAZ »

I sat at my PC and laughed and laughed. Some of the threads were great! I was laughing so hard my wife came in and asked what I was laughing about. I pointed to the screen and she read a few.

Needless to say SHE didn't think it was THAT funny. Now I gotta take her to dinner.

Wives don't have a sense of humor. Actually, she doesn't mind me playing on the PC. She tells her sister that it keeps me "out of bars and chasing wild women!"

Great post.:D

I can not even begain to discibe, what my wife will do when she thinks I have been playing spwaw too long. From lap dances to sitting on the keyboard naked! or sneeking up on me from below[ie under the chair! She is very small in size even after 4 kids!] So I feel for you guys.:D ;)

Broadband to the bed

Post by kleaner2 »

Great thread about the wives/girlfriends and SPWAW.

However, this may even shock you hard core gamers.

Since I do not watch TV, I have plenty of leisure time everyday. Did you know that the average American watches something like 3 hours of TV a day!!?!? What I tell my girlfriend is that I would spend my leisure time playing games instead of in front of the TV.

She is very understanding. When I am sometimes deep into a game, she'll pop her head in a ask if I would rather go to the store with her or continue conquering the world? It's a rhetorical question, because she already knows the answer.

Every once in a while during my marathon games, she whines a little bit and complains about going to bed alone. So, taking that into account, I installed an additional computer in the bed with a flatscreen monitor and wireless mouse and keyboard that can be used in the bed (from the parapalegic position). The monitor hovers (with brackets) about 12 inches above us. I hooked the computer sound up to a Nakamichi stereo in the room. The computer is also connected to the home network and has access to the internet via cable speed connection.

She loves the solution because we're together and she likes the sounds of the tanks rumbling across the plains. She claims it helps her fall asleep. My game playing time is now limitless! :-) And she likes the computer in the bed, because if I am playing in the other room, she can check her email, etc. in bed.

Broadband to the bed baby!

By the way, I've upgraded her to fiance status (who else would put up with that?!?!). :-)

p.s. I'll have to find a way to post pictures here to show it to you guys so you fully appreciate the setup!
