OK it has begun....

The transport and replenishment TF's have started to load up

200,000 fresh soldiers lots of supplies etc in 5 massive TF's

The fighting ships will wait a few more days in total there will be

16 BB's, 11 CV's, 4 CVL's, 34 CVE's, 33 Cruisers and over 90 Destroyers with the main fleet

Another 9 CVE's and 8 CA's and about 50 DD's cover the invasion TF's

I am intending to seek out and destroy KB before committing to close action on the invasion beaches.

90 Submarines are assembeled at Wake Island and will also be sortieing to interdict the Marianas shortly.

This time no mistakes....

Some of the TF's are en route assembling the full might of the allied fleet off Midway.

4 Carrier TF's and 1 Battleship TF is en route the others are awaiting components to arrive at Pearl before setting off.

A large supply convoy has arrived at Rabaul and B29's will shortly rebase thataway

My standard carrier TF is 1 CV, 4 CVE's or CVL, 1 CA, CLAA, 1, CL and 6 DD's I have 9 of these and one with 2 CV's and one BB

BB TF's are 3 BB's and 6 DD's I have 5 of them

I am going through the subs picking the most agressive and high naval CO's to the best xp boats

The reason for the fleet mix above is I want to have all my TF's have the same speed - this is about seeking a decisive battle and finishing the job once and for all

The main force will have 36 Escort Carrier average 27 aircraft, 11 Fleet Carriers (average 90) and 4 CVLS's average 30

In total c 2,100 aircraft of which 2/3 are Fighters or FB's.

This could well be the bigest CAP ever seen....

I actually think its unlikely that Pauk will bring KB out to fight he will try to fight it out with LBA, mines and CD guns.

I have a number of plans to deal with them but my losses to mines are going to be heavy.

I actually have no idea how to sweep mines guarded by CD guns without getting my TF's crucified so that will be a challenge.

The butcher will have his price and we shall pay it.

My record is 51 /100 ships sank on day 1 when I attacked Rabaul against PZB anyone want a wager as to how many of my lead TF I lose to mines ?

Potentially stupid question:

Does putting one older CA in your MSW task force to "draw fire" work.

Short answer is no but I have a new cunning plan to resolve this issue.

I have a 100 ship TF with 30 AK's of supply, 45 LCI (G), (R) and (M) and 2 CA's and a few DE's and 20 MSW's I will also put in an old BB.

This TF will go in first and attempt to clear the mines draw fire from the CD guns

you can stay one hex away of the base to sweep mines. If being under you Cap umbrella you should be save...

Doesnt that result in the CD guns decimating the MSW's ?

I am short of MSW's so a total annihalation of my MSW fleet is not acceptable

Andy

no, not if they are one hex OFF the base. Though it seems there is a die roll involved if they clear the mines or not, but I had it happen just recently in my game against Hortlund, so if you have enough MSWs in perhaps different TFs it might work to completely clear the enemy base of mines.

OK good to know.

In the West US 6th Army is driving on Singapore.

So far I have captured Singora and Alor Star.

Pauk may decide to stand at taiping because its immune to naval bombardment or he may keep running to the south.

It would be nice to clear Malaya in 44 as it could allow an invasion of either SEA or possibly North Borneo.

In the East forces are almost all assembled at Midway the remainder of the fleet sails from Pearl tomorrow and will rendevous off of Wake

From Rabaul 300 B29's can hit the whole of the Marianas.....

From Kavieng B24's can suppress Truk and on LR Naval Attack can curtail KB's movement options in the south....
