Flashpoint Campaigns Update: 18Feb08

Matrix Games and Simulations Canada combine and completely remake two classic NATO vs. Warsaw Pact wargames into a new classic. Based on the original wargames “Main Battle Tank: North Germany” and “Main Battle Tank: Central Germany”, Flashpoint Germany is a new grand tactical wargame of modern combat. Every aspect of modern grand tactical warfare is included, from advanced armor, air and helicopters to chemical and tactical nuclear weapons. Step into the most dangerous war.. . that never was.

Flashpoint Campaigns Update: 18Feb08

Post by CapnDarwin »

I'm a bit late with the news from the front, but war is hell (so is data editing and implementation). I have the initial database over to Rob who is working to wire it all up into the game engine. I"m in the midst of getting him costing formulas, armour and gun performance curve equations to. A ton of fun there in surface plots. I'll have to post a few shots. I really want to take some pick of the game, but my attempt to get my coding software tools updated hit a snag his weekend and I'm waiting on some info to get past it. I know Rob has been pounding on code, bugs, and AI. Marc has given us the new leader pics for both games and we are waiting on terrain for Red Storm. I have my wife and kids scanning images for me to convert in to the 500+ sils the game will need (I have about 350+ done right now). As soon as my software is up to speed I'll be working to revamp the data editor to handle the new layout and additonal info. Still a fair amount of work to do on formations though. Tough to find good info on who had what over 40 odd years of service. If anyone has OOB/TOE data that gets down into platoon/section resolution for Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Isreal, Russia, US, Britain, West Germany please give me a shout. I have a ton of stuff from various sources but noting nicely consolidated (sounds like another task for my wife, she types a hell of a lot faster then I do). As soon as I get the ability to compile the latest code I'll though up some new pics and info on the game.

Back to the battle...
OTS is looking forward to Southern Storm getting released!
