In WPO, Tankerace let us submit our names and then assigned all interested to command a ship. CRSutton commands an armored crusier in WPO.

I think it would be a good idea and fun to do that with AE.

This idea may already have been suggested but I have not been checking this forum.

I'll take anything cruiser sized and up on the Allied side.

Yes, Tankerace actually was doing some slick marketing. It got me to buy the game, and I expect that all the others who got a captaincy bought the game as well.

I command a converted merchantman I think it was in WPO. I can't remember now. It feels good to be in command! [:D]

I wouldn't mind commanding something in WITP but since WITP is based upon relatively well documented history than what WPO is, I think it's probably best to let the AE team go with historical names. [:D]

I would agree that main ships should have historical names and the officer database should be largely historical. However unless the AE crew expects to have all the masses of AKs and to a certain extent the DDs or DEs on the allied side historical it would be cool to add in non histoircal names.

I know the remake of Bombing the Reich is trying to have histrical pilots but there are just so many planes that they also are allowing people to have their names put in as a pilot. I am a B-17F pilot[:D] or i will be.

I've been trying to in WPO, but so far the gun engagements are, shall we say, inconclusive.
