I agree in that the damage done by a LL hit on USN cruisers was devastating though I'm in doubt as to it's equaling it's intended value.  In the tight confines around the Solomons it was a deadly menace as the radar of the day was still in it's teething stages and gound clutter confused things further.  The USN's adapatability vs the IJN's rigidity was a greater advantage, at least in my mind.

I never thought that doing an AAR would be so time consuming and difficult.

The stats for any device in the game can be quickly and easily changed in the editor ...

Does that include decreasing the effectiveness of radar in preventing an LL attack in the first place? I would rather do that than turn the LL into an underwater Exocet, but I suspect radar is an "all or none" device hard-coded into UV.

I would think, without knowing for sure, that the only way to reduce the effectiveness of radar would be to downgrade the given platform's type of radar. I'm going to check the editor in UV and see. I would imagine that since this time frame of UV is fairly early in the war this would be a very limited option.

Nope, it looks like the radar is not available through the editor. I suppose that you could toy with the crew experience levels though.

I don't have UV installed on the laptop I have with me on the road - but did you look in the device file or just the class or ship files? In WITP all the devices can be changed in the device file. For radar this includes the range and the effectiveness. I'm not sure what the effectiveness does if anything. You could try changing that and see if it matters. But I'm sure the range is used. So decreasing the range by half or more might make a detectable difference in the results.

That's exactly the point in UV you don't get at the devices.

Joe, the UV editor is much more primitive than the WitP one. Much information is hardcoded into the game.

If that's the case, I'll soon post a request in the CF "wish list" thread re decreasing radar effectiveness, or whatever it takes to allow the IJN more of a chance to make LL attacks w/o turning its Type 93 into a super weapon.

As you can see, there is no Device Tab in the UV editor. You will need to talk to the CF development team to get changes.

But we really expect you to know about AE, not UV. Just keep trucking on AE and let Tankerace develop CF and the world will be right. [8D]

To be honest Joe, the reason I knew this was Ike99 asked me about the posibility of modding the LL. When I looked, no device table! [:(][:)]

Well the device file is definitely exposed in the new (totally re-written) AE Editor ...
