TF ammo replenishment, at sea?

Post by cyberwop »

Can TF AAA ammo be replenished at sea? I can't find any referece for at sea ammo restock in the manual. My 1st major CV engagement I ran out of AAA ammo on the 2nd day. I remember in Pac War ammo was replenished with fuel.

Also I'm concidering future base sites. How do I know the expansion limits for beach hexes?

Thanks for the help.

Can't help you with the AA bit. I don't think I've ever been out that long.

As to base expansion, click on the base itself. Up on the top, in the middle, you'll see numbers listed for airfield and port size. The ones in parentheses are the max for that base, which you can build up to 3 over.
It's much harder to determine for ones you don't control, and I've found that the best way short of landing troops is to look at the VP's for it. If you check undeveloped bases you do own that are near the one you want, you'll be able to get a fair idea of what it can become. If you do this, keep in mind that the farther into enemy territory it is, the more it's worth.
I give approximately two fifths of a !#$% at any given time!

Thanks for the base help.

As for being out too long. I only engaged the jap cv's on the morning of May 7, 1942. By the afternoon of the 8th my tf was out of AAA ammo before the could disengage.

As a jap player I would consider a strategy of sending many small air strikes to deplete a tf's ammo since each attack eats up 1 ammo point regardless of size. Then after 6 or 7 attacks send in the big one aginst almost no flak.

P.S. Fantastic game, my wife is already claiming to be widowed again, I better go check those papers she's filling out :]

Hello...

Fuel can be attained from a tanker or oiler. To replenish task force ammunition at sea, you need an ammunition replenishment ship. There are none in the game. War in the Pacific has some, though.

I'm not guaranteeing the absolute accuracy of the list, but I think it is fairly accurate. I didn't list any bases that are 0/0 port/airfield max sizes. All I listed was the max possible for the site, not what is/was there currently.

You could say that I did a little "pre-war intelligence". :p

File is tab-delimited text (the easiest to pull up in a spreadsheet).

Format is: Name/Port/Airfield/HexColumn/HexRow

Sorry. :)
