makeshift ports

Post by ghoward »

Does anyone know of any functional difference between makeshift and regular ports. I have a senior HQ providing supply for SFtype upgrades for units of subordinate HQ's on continent A with the senior HQ,, but the subordinate HQs on continents B and C cannot see the senior HQ (in the upgrade dialog) for their upgrades. No cargoships involved, Supply AP range > 100, no anti supply bubbles. Both lines to B and C transit makeshift ports--Is that it? Anyone got a clue?

I meant < 100 AP supply range Sorry

AFAIK hq is not able to supply across land on another island. That is what gives you problems. Try moving hqs on B and C to ports and see what happens.
If you want to keep them mobile, you'll have to set up another proxy hq to be in port, so it can receive supplies from the higher one and then forward it to mobile hqs inland. Proxy will need trucks for that of course.

Unless a new change has occurred trucks are NOT required to move supplies from a Headquarters to any other receiving unit. Trucks are only needed to MANUALLY move supplies or subtypes in the hqs or make units outside the movement range of the subtype of the Headquarters.
Favoritism is alive and well here.

Thanks for the response. A is in port, B is in (makeshift) port, C is inland and all are recieving supply withhout problems. This is really an UPGRADE-supply thing and I think Vic has it answered for us. That supplies used for upgrades must be on the landmass where upgrades occur. That is consistant with the behavior I have seen.
