New Guinea & the Solomons



Kavieng was captured today. Most of the company defending the base were ordered to evacuate back to Brisbane. The few squads left behind retreated.

Japanese paratroopers have secured the outlying bases surrounding Lae. An invasion took place at Lae. The NVGR unit did a shock attack as the initial invasion appeared to be light on 7 DEC. This turned out to be a bad move as they are severely disabled. We've ordered the Catalinas at Port Moresby to begin evacuating them. We expect the base to fall tomorrow.

Malaya



This area is fairly quiet at the moment regarding ground combat. The only battle is at Kota Baru. The air campaign is in full swing against the airbase at Singapore. We've already lost a number of our Buffaloes.

I decided Victoria Point isn't worth defending with a base force. I've re assigned them to India.

The minelayers finished mining Mersing and should arrive in port tomorrow.

Japanese forces were seen landing at a river port in Cambodia.

Philippines & Borneo



Salmon class subs should commence with minelaying operations tomorrow in the highlighted sector. I've transferred a company to the base adjacent to Cayagan. There is a division trapped just north of Mindanao that I'm awaiting on PP to transfer. I haven't made up my mind yet where they will be committed. I can send them to Mindanao to disrupt plans there, to Manilla to bolster defenses, or to Legapsi when the Japanese troops advance to Naga to try to cut them off. I could also redeploy them to the DEI.

The mini-KB has been spotted in the Celebes. I plan to reinforce Tarakan with P-40s and some of the finest Dutch bombers. I will also assign the B-17s that transferred to Kendari to hunt this fleet down. Maybe I can get lucky again. [8D]

Japan lost the initial battle at Kuching. It might hold for a few more days. Miri was captured along with Aparri and San Fernando.

Also in the DEI we lost Ambonia and Biak.

China



I've moved a division into Canton to disrupt resource production for a day or two. Other movements are artillery regiments being assigned to Changsha & Sian. I've also ordered divisions from Chengtu to move to Chungking. A large division on the Vietnam border has been ordered south.

2 divisions at Wanchang have been ordered to Ichang. Once they arrive in the hex just northwest of Ichang I'll order 3 of the 4 divisions there to move into Ichang. This is trail movement so I don't expect them to arrive until the middle of February of next year.

I haven't moved the SE Asia units into Burma yet. I think I'll keep them as a reserve and use them if I need to re-open the Burma road.

The only other activities were to change a lot of the planning targets. The main HQ is prepping for Wuhan now to boost our AV there. I'd like to move more units into the battle there but am hesitant to strip another area of its defenses at the moment.
