Do msw lay mines?

Do msw lay mines or just sweep them? When I send them out with orders to retire the screen says they will mine hex but no mine symbols appear after they finish.

I've been laying mines with the subs, but which other classes lay mines?

Any lessons in mine warfare theory wound by appeciated.

I've been laying mines deep in enemy territory with the subs. I want to lay large numbers of mines at friendly controlled choke point with my ships.

No. DM or Subs, and one other type I cant remember at the moment. There is a thread on this already, do a search on "mines" on this board for a more complete discussion which might answer some other questions you have in this area.

DMS or MSW only sweeps for mines, does not lay them.

DMs and MLs are the only surface ships that lay mines. And
the US players have very few of them in early 1942. He does
have the subs and I find that 4 S-Boats can lay 32 mines in
the same TF. Check out the sub SS Arganout, it can carry &
lay 60 mines by ITSELF and they are the better Mk 12 mines.
Only bad side is only 1 of these boats was every made....

Hmmmm.... I get a "TF will mine Hex so and so" message from a TF composed of only DMS. I got the message when assigning the TF to a non dot hex only.

Anybody else? Bug?

That message is misleading, indeed. But you will notice that no mines are layed by these TFs.

Actually, the TF needs to load mines if any are to be laid at the
hex in question. Then check each ship to see if it has mines on board. This will be the determining factor.....

I have already reported this as a minor bug and been assured it will be corrected in a later update.
