Printed Manual For Advanced Naval Warfare?

Post by AKAGI7137 »

As I understand it the Physical Shipment from Matrix for ANW only comes with a PDF manual on the disk.

Are there any plans to change this so that, like its counterpart HCE, it comes with a printed manual? It does seem a logical step.

I really prefer printed manuals

see topic tm.asp?m=1654180 I asked the same question
The ocean has no compassion, no faith, no law, no memory. Its fickleness is to be held true to man's purpose only by an undaunted resolution and by sleepless, armed, jealous vigilance in which, perhaps, there has always been more hate than love.

The reason I ask this question is that I understand that at the beginning of 2007 or thereabouts Matrix decided to include printed manuals with all their games with any published after that point due to get one. ANW obviously came out prior to this point and hence did not get the paperwork whilst HCE did come after this threshold and hence a physical purchase did give you something on paper.

The word at the time of this printed manual decision is that they would 'go back' and change this inbalance for their earlier games and a couple (or more) have been upgraded already. I wonder whether Matrix could confirm if and when ANW might be one of those that gets this retrospective treatment.

ANW is more than HCE - correcting this to stop ANW potentially becoming a lesser brother in the sales figures through 'newbie' purchasers certainly seems logical as to them - regardless of the guts of the game - seeing what they get for their $$ is going to count. Are Matrix still going to 'go back' and fill in the gaps paperwork wise?

Could somebody from matrix comment on this as I am certain I can't be the only one asking this mentally before they make a purchase.

I agree. I would willingly purchase manuals.

Maybe the powrs that be at Matrix have been on extended Xmas hols but can I reraise this question. With, how involved Harpoon is as a game, I (and many others I suspect) would want to know whether there are plans to produce a printed manual for ANW before buying same. After all they did the same thing for The Operational Art Of War (i.e another complex game released before the 'print manual' threshold).

Cam somebody from matrix comment?

With this new idea of "editions' are we any further forward as regards whether Harpoon ANW is due to eventually be available with a printed manual? If Matrix has not yet decided for this title what 'edition' it is eventually going to be vailable in over this coming year could somebody at least confirm to this effect as obviously the no comment at all leaves everybody completely in the dark.

There has got to be people out there (like me) waiting to decide whether to buy this title (particularly as part of the ANW HCE combo) who wonder whether something is going to be available in black and white in the future.

I guess it is still this way, I just purchased and received Harpoon 3, and it has no manual.

I do have one advantage, I have every version of Harpoon form the DOS days to now, I think I have 7 difference versions, and have a couple of manuals for Harpoon 2, that is similar.

But was really dissappointed that it had no manual with it.

Had I known that ahead of time I would have only purchased the download version.

I feel exactly the same way and I posted about it in the general forums when I first received my physical shipment. I was severely dissapointed.

Gents,

If you feel strongly about it try contacting some of the Matrix guys directly and ask what's happening in regard to the manual situation. This is one case where AGSI has little control and I'd suggest a direct approach is the way to go if you feel strongly enough about it. This is a publishing issue and Matrix are the publishers.

Cheers

When I brought it up I was told that Matrix were taking steps to make it more clear which games do come with manuals and which do not.
