Incredible Manual!

Post by LarryP »

I downloaded this game last night and I am amazed at how excellent the manual is! I don't expect though that this manual in print copy will come with the physical copy of the game?! Not for $30 I suppose. [&:]

Anyway, kudos to the people that did this manual, it is excellent. [&o]

Now to the game itself... [;)]

Hi and thanks for the kind words about the manual. The manual was done by our all volenteer BDG (BOBII Development Group). The leader of the project was SeaVee a true and loyal BDG'er, we think it is one of the best user manual in flight sim business.

You might also want to download and print out the BDG key description document (over 100 keys).

Hope you get set up correctly and enjoy the game. It has a learning curve so go slow. Appendix A of the manual has the Bdg.txt parameters with many game play options and features.

BOBII is developed and maintained by a unpaid workforce (the BDG). It is our hobby, we refer to the game as "The Time Machine".

We are currently working on the BOBII 2.08 release which we hope (assuming no show stoppers) to release in the coming months:

Summary of 2.08 Features

1. The addition of the RAF Tiger Moth Trainer
2. The 2dGauge System (with some continuing gauge work to follow).
3. Updated Landscape
4. New 3D objects by Ben
5. Enhancement of the AI 1-on-1 Maneuver Selection
6. Enhancement of the Fighters against Bombers AI Maneuver Selection
7. Fixes

Here is some information on the BDG and Shockwave (the gane developer) relationship (if you are interested):

Buddye;

Thanks for the information. I bookmarked the forums. I am sure I will enjoy this flight strategy, I am so far. I am amazed at the wonderful support and kind people associated with this title. [X(]

Your advice that this game has a learning curve is well taken. It does too! It is full of choices which I like.

If I have anymore questions or comments I will be back. Thanks! [&o] [:)]

Is there a 'lite' version of the manual? I agree it is fantastic (really), but I can't afford to print so many pages... [:(] Is there a condensed version somewhere that gives you just the essentials? But I guess what is 'essential' would vary from player to player...

We have had so many request for a printed copy of the BDG manual. We even looked at getting printed copies for the BDG members as a thank you. The coordination and expense was just too much.

I think the day of printed manuals (at least 300 +) pages and still growing is in the past. We still have to add the Single Plater Campaign to the manual later plus all the new features since 2.06 which are significant.

I guess it can still serve the customers as a good referrence.

I have my own 'lite' version, which I made myself. I'm happy to share it if there is interest. It just has in it the things I most often need to remind myself about because I tend to move back and forth between sims for weeks at a time and need a refresher when I return to BOB2:

- Key commands
- Pilot notes for BOB2 Spit, Hurri and Me109
- How to: Run/win a campaign, fly as a single squadron, Adjust LW and RAF skill, Adjust BDG.txt settings, Fine Tune the PC for BOB2, Padlock enemy, Adjust weather/length of day, Fly against Hero AI in quick missions etc

It runs to about 20 pages, instead of 100s.

I would need to tidy up my speling but if anyone is interested I can put it out there...

Planespotter:  I will be more than happy to render my assistance for proof reading, if you would like me to. I am very
interested in obtaining a copy of your 'lite' version [;)]
