Masi hits a 2-run HR in the 6th. Torgeson follows with a solo homer. 8-3.
Voiselle relieves Spahn in the 6th.
8th Inning. Furillo and Hodges add insurance runs with RBI singles. 10-3. Stanky hits a 2-run HR as icing on the cale. 12-3.
The Braves score two in the 9th, but Lombardi gets a 12-5 CG win. Spahn loses.
Monday is an off day. The Yankees clinch the AL pennant!

Beazley wins and Cooper gets a save. Branca loses.

RE: The 1947 Brooklyn Dodgers
Brooklyn, Tuesday Sept.23. The showdown with the Giants. These are must-win games for us. The Giants need to win just one more game to clinch.
Hatten (23-9, 2.64) vs Jansen (19-9, 4.21).
2nd Inning. Reese hits an RBI single. 1-0.
NY ties it in the 5th. Thompson relieves Jansen in the 7th.
Iott relieves Thompson in the 9th.
We go to the 10th.
Fowler relieves Hatten in the 11th. Hansen relieves Iott in the 12th.
The Giants take a 4-1 lead with a Gordon HR in the 13th.
Bottom of the 13th. Brooklyn scores a run on an error by Gordon. 4-2. The Dodgers do no more, and the pennant run comes to an end.
The Giants clinch. They will face the Yankees in the World Series.

KG Notes: as we move on 1948, I have every reason to feel confident. The Dodgers are the youngest team in the majors, but finished second in the NL. They are to be regarded as solid contenders next year.
As for the experiment with a black player, Jackie Robinson performed beyond all expectations. To win the MVP trophy was a triumph.
I look forward to next season.
