Another Strat move question

Post by boogada »

Ok, here we go again.

Frank: What are reasons why strat move might fail? I have the BEF in France, I strat moved them first and they did not relocate. The hex they moved to was not attacked, nor has an enemy neighbour. I moved the Brits first, yet the French units I moved after them did move and BEF did not.

Sep 14 if that matters.

Looking at the file labelled "2" it seems you don't have any French Rail points.  That would prevent the British from moving troops across France.

I found this annoying fact out. Depending on the location of your Troops, i.e. in another Major Nation you will use that nation's Rail. Though I found in conquored a minor or nation still within it's new  border things were different, anyone else found this out? Railing through Majors using Minors

Yes if you start in another nation for which rail points are monitored then you will use that nations rail points.

If you start in a nation for which rail points are NOT monitored (eg the rump Serbia after surrender) then you use the rail points of the nation the troops belong to.

So, for example, if you are shifting troops from Turkey to Germany you get to shift more Germans (I had a LOT of german troops in Turkey in one game - we kicked the Brits & French out of Smyrna and trapped 3 corps out of supply at Mosul.....eh Dave[8D]) by using Turkish points to shift them to Serbia, then German points to shift them back to Germany on a following turn, rather than trying to shift them directly from Turkey to Germany in a single turn.

I only have a few in that turn. So I moved the BEF first to assure they move. And then some French units. The French ones did move, the BEF did not.

Does that mean that I have to spare those points because the game does not recognize by itself what I am doing? Does the game move the French first and then all foreign troops in France?

My BEF was buggy in the old Patch Boogada, often my US and UK troops would be sitting behind with what seemed enough rail, meanwhile it seemed I had the rail to move them. Sure that cannon fire wasn't arriving in the hex you were transfering to? I don't know if that will affect it.

though I haven't experienced this problem since. I would beta this myself in hotseat if I were you, since the new beta patch I haven't noticed this problem

Yes. In your game, the French units used the available rail capacity and when the Brits turn to move came up there was none left.

Ok. Didn't know that. I think I read in the forums that I need to move the Brits first to ensure them using the capacities. But like a long time ago. Thanks for making this clear.
