Cannot Load Scenario error
I created a scenario, and when I try to load it to play, it gives me an error message "Cannot load scenario", and it then give a list of ~30 messages all saying:
"Intel enemy unit (ID = xxxxx) Establishment reset!"
Where the xxxxx varies. I gather that it has to do with setting the intel levels on units, and then changing the OOB in some manner that corrupts the file.
What can I do?

I take it that error occurs when you try and run the game. You should still be able to open it in the ScenMaker. So do so and then set the Intel Display Mode button to the right of the StratMap in the sidebar. This should display one or more intel reports. Select all of them and select No Intel from the Enemy Intelligence Level popup on the sidebar. This should remove them. Save and reload in the Game. It should then pass muster.
Startup the scenario in the ScenMaker again and this time ensure that the Intel Display Mode is unset. Select the real units you desire to create reports on. Then select the desired intel level for them. Save and reload in the Game. It should now work. If not please get back to me.

RE: Cannot Load Scenario error
Dave, thanks for the quick reply. I hope the holidays were good to you and yours, and I certainly appreciate the rapid response.
However, I followed your directions and I still get the error. I keep thinking that it has something to do with the fact that I added a unit to one of the regiments I made, after I had already placed and made some intel reports, and that this added unit threw off the ID numbers referenced in the error reports.
I can send the game if someone has time/knowledge to figure it out. I guess I could recreate the scenario from scratch, but I'd hate to have to redo all of that.

Franklin,
The most likely cause is duplicate units. check and see if you have some units with the same estab having the same name. Changing these duplicates should clear things up.
Hope this helps!

Damn, I'm getting the same error. I tried to do what Arjuna advised, but it still doesn't work. I checked for duplicates, but don't see any. I am, however, using Franklins UK Inf Div Force Lists, perhaps I'm having the same problem he is ?

Franklin: you never got it to work in your scenario?

I keep thinking that it has something to do with the fact that I added a unit to one of the regiments I made, after I had already placed and made some intel reports, and that this added unit threw off the ID numbers referenced in the error reports.
That would not cause any problem.
Are you guys sure you scrolled through all the units to check for duplicate names? use excel and alpha-sort by name if necessary.
If that's not the problem, PM me and I'll give you my email address to send it to me.

RE: Cannot Load Scenario error
I loaded 'em up in excel and see no duplicates. The obj numbers that the error messages refer to do not exist in the list. I get 33 error messages, which is a lot...

RE: Cannot Load Scenario error
Ok I notice there are duplicates in the unit designations, that is the abbrivations that show on the unit counters. Could that be problem?
RE: Cannot Load Scenario error
No, that won't cause the problem.
I have run into this error several times in scenario development - only when I duplicate units but forget to change the unit descriptions. After I give them unique description the scenarios load fine.
So I'm stumped here[&:]
The object numbers have never matched for me either, but I do recall that they were close to the range of the problem units. Hope that helps.

Richard,
If you can't get to the bottom of it, email me the scenarios and I'll check them out.

RE: Cannot Load Scenario error
Dave, I checked it out - I exported the forces to clipboard, opened in excel, unprotected the workbook, copied and imported them back into the scenario. The error disappeared.
I'm fairly certain that the problem is related to multiple duplication of units in SM. Even though the names were eventually changed by the designer, there was still some residual bug in this particular case. Something about exporting to excel and importing back did the trick.

RE: Cannot Load Scenario error
Richard, once again thanks for helping out and for the multiple advice you have provided me with. I'm already busy fixing contours, shortening bridges etc etc hehe.
RE: Cannot Load Scenario error
Richard,
Please confirm that this affects Intel Units only.
If so, then I thought this was due to the fact that the estabs have changed and that the intel reports were using old, non-existent estabs. But are you now saying that there is another issue at playe here? Can it be repeated?

Count Sessine,
Had you made your Op Sealion scenario prior to Patch 3 - ie with a previous version of the ScenMaker?

Arjuna,
I started on the map prior to Patch 3, but all the scenario maker work was done with Patch 3.

RE: Cannot Load Scenario error
I just had this error pop up and cured it (after fixing a few duplicate names) by exporting and then importing as Simovitch suggests. I just exported to clipboard then immediately imported from clipboard, I did not open, unprotect, copy and then re-import.
