Scenario Size Question.

Post by z1812 »

Hi All,

I tend to like my scenarios on the smaller side and played upon medium to large maps. So I would be thinking 4 or 5 vehicles and perhaps a company or 2 of infantry. Maybe 15 turns a Battle.

How would that configuration work with the Battle and Campaign Generator?

Absolutely. Such scenarios are quite fun. You can set the points on the random battle generator down as low as 25 (for comparison, one squad of German infantry in 1941 costs 6 points and a T-34/41 costs 42 points. So you can really go about as small as possible. For what you're describing, you're probably talking 350 points or so.

Yep, the bundle will be the same as the WS discount offer, so $15 off the combined price.

I also am more comfortable with less than a battalion of troops and a few AFVs. Most of the CM battles that I enjoyed were along these lines and on maps around 800-1200m each direction.

ISTR BFC stating that CM was designed to be a company level game but people kept asking for more so they allowed it to be Bn.

I on the other hand like big battles, I usually play 5000pts in CM. How big do the battles get in PC?

I'd say the current limiter is really the map size. There's no longer any effective limit on number of units though, other than what your system can handle (Winterstorm would only display the first 52 squads/vehicles in the icon list, Kharkov now allows multiple pages of icons). With that said, about 70 units per side feels like a pretty darn big battle when you play it out.
