RHS installer update and cleaned files UPLOADING
A few things have been learned. The installer - which works very well - can be better.
For the next update I will fold in all known eratta so it installs the latest version
7.7893
I want any noted eratta - and will fold that in to - if it posts here in time

Check the Tone and Chikuma--one of them upgrades to the Pete, but the other doesn't.

In CVO and BBO families - yes - and it was a problem - it upgraded to a late carrier fighter
which code will put on a cruiser - but might not fly from it
EOS starts these ships with Pete

i think it is on the RHS site - something like rhs.akdreemer.com -
and there is a thread with a separate download link which may still work
be back after work
but remember we are about to update this program with updated files

RE: RHS installer update and Level 7 eratta cleaned files
This update is behind plan - for several reasons -
been running tests - found a need to revise all pwhex files - and there are things to investigate (art wise)
now I am going back to work for two days -
but after that is spring break - I am home alone for a week - and I only work 3 days next week - so this should wind up in the next week
I will complete the scenario files - we will decide if we need art changes - and then these will be used to update the installer by our new software engineer
The total revision is a lot of little stuff rather than anything big - but will make it easier and better for all starting a new game - not a bad step in its own right.
Mifune is in the loop - so this stuff should post on the RHS site in a timely way.

RE: RHS installer update and cleaned files NOTICE
I have completed correcting eratta -- and done something of an update for minecraft - which turned out to include some ASW craft -
and am ready to issue. It will take a few days to get the installer to this standard and these files on the RHS site - but it should happen today or tomarrow.
The question is - is anything else in need of correcting at this time? We fixed an aircraft art pointer - a number of unit planning location pointers - some formation pointers - some ships weapons - two devices in CVO family - one device in BBO family. And classification of ML, DM, PC, MLE vessels on a comprehensive basis.
The more important corrections are backfitted to Levels 5 and 6 - and these files will also be posted.

"classification of ML, DM, PC, MLE vessels" So what are the precise definitions of these now clarified classifications?

RE: RHS installer update and cleaned files NOTICE
a ML is a minelayer - and it will NOT work in a surface combat task force
a DM is a minelayer - and it WILL work in a surface combat task force
these are the ONLY surface ships that will lay mines - so all minelaying ships are one or the other
in general - a slow ship is a ML and a fast one is a DL -- also a small one with no medium guns is always a ML
If a ship has some other designation IRL - I put it in the class name -
thus you have Russian (and French) DM with DL in the name - DM with DD in the class name - DM with DE in the class name
If a ship has ASW weapons and no mines - even if it is at birth a minelayer - it is now a PC - sometimes with PCE in the class name to help you uinderstand it is good one - A PC is seagoing while an SC is a coastal vessel - and a PC probably has better sensors (if that word applies in WITP = chance of detection)
An MLE is an AE dedicated to mine depot work - it is as far as I know a WITP term - but if we want to load at a non level ten port - we need to use it. An MLE needs a cargo capacity to work - so I gave it to them. I also found problems with minelayers not having mines in the right slot to rearm.

RE: RHS installer update and cleaned files NOTICE
This is a moderately important enhancement as well as eratta correction package - so we will go to version x.79 - and all three levels will be issued 5.79 6.79 and 7.79
Lots of minecraft and not a few small escorts will work better - or work for the first time.

RE: RHS installer update and cleaned files UPLOADING
RHS x.79 series uploading now.
This is a comprehensive update.
It involves many hundreds of minor eratta and a few hundreds of enhancements or revisions - mainly to minecraft, escorts and Japanese AGC - which no longer exist. A flaw in code prevents an AGC from loading anything but a certain kind of HQ - and the Japanese cannot afford not to use their tonnage - so these ships are LSDs.
MLEs may work for the first time - it looks like it - as mine depot ships - and former MLEs are now PCs (mostly).
Minelaying destroyers and other vessels which could not lay mines should now lay them - notably in Russian and French ships.
Several technical problems were corrected - especially in CVO family - where two devices were corrected - and one air group upgrade was fixed.
Dave Bradley will update the installer / switcher to include this release. He estimates 24 hours. Mifune is on line - so the files should post to the RHS site shortly. Those on the primary distribution list should get them now.
Levels 5 and 6 are updated - and available on request.

RE: RHS installer update and cleaned files UPLOADING
The latest RHS scenario files (all levels) will be uploaded once I receive them. So far only the first scenario has arrived in my inbox. Probably after dinner there should be more. I myself can not wait to see how these scenario files play out. This should be a very exciting update as more and more of the WitP engine is properly utilized.

RE: RHS installer update and cleaned files UPLOADING
Level 6 files were sent to Mifune - and one user - but not to primary distribution - which only gets level 7 files.
Level 5 is done but has not been uploaded yet.

Possible Bug
We're playing RHSRAO level 7, and Japan is getting barge groups at the beginning of the scenario in various locations with nearly 100 damage. Some of these are sinking immediately. WTFO?
Note added: there's more of the same. This is the prerelease of the new release.

RE: Possible Bug
Hi -
I was just going to try my hand at RHS. I assume you all are in the middle of making some updates and it sounds like you have an auto installer?? I searched the RHS website and did not find anything. Can someone kindly directly to the location of the installer when you get a free moment?
Thanks
Jaypea
PS - double post but I meant to put this post in this thread

Yes - and this issue - which was both reported to me and observed by me - was not yet addressed. It was for 7.79. It was not part of 5 or 6.
This was done to reduce the strain on merchant shipyards - transferring it to repair shipyards. There is a vast number of "merchant" vessels - and this is exaserbated by the use of units representing many landing craft. So we pre boorrowed an AE concet - start a ship with damage and let it repair. THis works fine UNLESS the delay is too long and we wentover to floatation damage. It appears values of 80 or above have a high chance of being lost. So we have converted this - at the cost of not haveing as much delay as we wanted. We will see if it works better now. But rthe fix did work - merchant shipyards are coping well enough that a player wise enought not to try to do everythin up front will get almost everything built on time.

The updated scenario files are done and uploaded to the primary distribution list for Level 7. Level 6 was uploaded to only one user and to Mifune. Both should now be on the RHS site.
The installer is not yet updated - but will be shortly. It had to wait for the fies to complete to update. On the other hand, if you have a working RHS installation - you do not need the installer - just dump the files in the SCEN folder. Files are also available directly from anyone onf the primary ditribution list - and in particular from Mifune and I.
RE: Possible Bug
The latest version of the installer for RHS Level 7 is available here:
http://rapidshare.com/files/99633242/RH ... er_1.3.zip
This version updates the scenario files to the latest release, updates the pwhex.dat to the latest version and changes the PWHEX switching utility to the Mark II version, which is quite a bit more flexible than the original. Please post if you have any problems and I'll try to fix them. Thanks.
