New HBO Series

Post by Knuckles_85 »

Preacher (Vertigo Comics)

Preacher tells the story of Jesse Custer, a down-and-out preacher in the small Texas town of Annville. Custer was accidentally possessed by the supernatural creature named 'Genesis' in an incident which killed his entire congregation and flattened his church.

Genesis, the product of the unauthorized, unnatural coupling of an angel and a demon, is an infant with no sense of individual will. However, as it is composed of both pure goodness and pure evil, it might have enough power to rival that of God himself. In other words, Jesse Custer, bonded to Genesis, may have become the most powerful being in the whole of living existence.

Custer, driven by a strong sense of right and wrong, goes on a journey across the United States attempting to (literally) find God, who abandoned Heaven the moment Genesis was born. He also begins to discover the truth about his new powers, which allow him to command the obedience of those who hear his words. He is joined by his old girlfriend Tulip O'Hare, as well as a hard-drinking Irish vampire named Cassidy.

During the course of their journeys, the three encounter enemies and obstacles both sacred and profane, including: the Saint of Killers, an invincible, quick-drawing, perfect-aiming, come-lately Angel of Death answering only to the authority of God Himself; a serial-killer called the 'Reaver-Cleaver'; The Grail, a secret organization controlling the governments of the world and protecting the bloodline of Jesus; Herr Starr, ostensible Allfather of the Grail, a megalomaniac with a penchant for prostitutes, who wishes to use Custer for his own ends; several fallen angels; and Jesse's own redneck 'family' — particularly his nasty Cajun grandmother, her mighty bodyguard Jody, and the 'animal-loving' T.C.

Does anyone know if there is any chance of HBO having a 3rd season of "Rome"?
Signature? Maybe someday over the rainbow.

Almost no chance.

Once a series is dead for that long, it generally does not come back - especially an expensive series like Rome.

This sounds so familiar.

Does it have Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and Chris Rock?

No chance in hell. The BBC pulled out and it's way too expensive for HBO to do alone. You got your seasons 2 and 3 condensed into one season to wrap it up quickly. It was truly a great show. I hated to see it go like I hated that Deadwood and The Wire was cancelled but somehow Sex in the City lasted forever.

In this series there is so much inbreeding in Jesus's bloodline that they are lack any sense of intelligence. God said fuck it and left heaven when Genesis was born and there are no good guys.

Whether it's from a comic book or a novel what's the difference? Lord of The Rings is nothing but a comic book without the the pictures. Comic books can have great depth. You could see that if you got off your horse your highness.

I thought you did? I remember my friend from Edmonton telling me about a Sopranos episode she saw. I think you can go to HBO.com and watch the shows from there

Hi Knuckles,

Your right about the Sopranos, but Band of Brothers for instance was not shown here until after a few seasons.

I'll go check out HBO.com! Thanks,

Grell

That's really bad news!

Hope there is no nasty British redcoat bashing......they were just misunderstood. I really hate the way Hollywood changes history when the original story is so good. Braveheart.....enjoyed the film as an action film but what total tosh.......and Troy aghhhhh... wasn't the illiad a good enough story for them that they had to change the ending.......sorry just a bit of a rant... It's just that many people get their history from these films and programmes and its a shame that they have such a cavalier attitude to history.

Not starring Mel Gibson in it would be a start. Braveheart and The Patriot were so far from history that they were unintentionally funny at times.
