Additional vehicles and ordnance.

Post by jamespcrowley »

The list of vehicles and ordnance in PCK is impressive in it's own right; outstanding in comparison to PCOWS.

However, one always wants more!

Of course there will be modders who take up the challenge with, I would imamgine, varying degrees of success. But there are potentially so many possible additions, some quite complex, that I wonder if it would be worth considering some form of chargeable download.

Perhaps someone like Mobius who is, I assume, paid for his many contributions and who obviously has the expertise to produce excellent models fairly quickly, could devote some time to expanding the model database. This could then be made available as a DL, with an appropriate price tag.

I, for one, would happily pay for such a service as I would also for additional maps and scenarios, provided they are of "professional" quality. There was no shortage of budding scenario builders with CM but only a handful could design truly good scenarios and the modding community was equally capable of producing tat as it was of producing something really noteworthy.
Cheers

Nope. Nada. I do it for the applause of the crowd.[:D]
And because of the challenge.

Wait until after the release and we get a consensus of what new units would be cool. Probably then several modders would rise to the challenge. CM has many good scenarios that could be made into PCK scenarios.

OK, good on you! You certainly have my applause.

Please keep-up the excellent work and I will start to prepare my list of potential add-ons [:D]

Since there is no map editor it's doubtful anyone can mod any unique maps. We're pretty much stuck with the 27 that come with the game except for moving foilage around and tinker toying them. But, no full fledged map making which kinda suks.
WE/I WANT 1:1 or something even 1:2 death animations in the KOIOS PANZER COMMAND SERIES don't forget Erik! ;) and Floating Paratroopers We grew up with Minor, Marginal and Decisive victories why rock the boat with Marginal, Decisive and Legendary?

Another poster made a comparison to SL/ASL and I think it's a good one. These maps are quite reusable from multiple angles and for different battle types and designed to be representative as well as historical. While we all want a map editor, you might be surprised how much you can get out of the existing maps.

Ravinhood,

Anyone with 3dsmax and photoshop can make totally brand new maps.

Anyone with paint, notepad and free MS direct SDK download (ie everyone and for free), by using the supplied scenedit utility can adjust textures and totally arrange trees, houses, fences, trenches, roads, foxholes, etc, etc. to their hearts desire. In fact I think you would be very hard presses to spot anything of the old map if you wanted to mod it using freely available tools to that extent.

Any new maps created can then be easily shared.

Once the dust settles down after release I will probably look to start writing a map editor, depending on my other (eg real work) commitments. No promises though. If PCK does get a sequel well then ....

Remember for both Mobius and myself we are volunteers on this project. Because PCK doesn't pay any of our bills, work on it takes a back seat priority to any other life's interruptions.
