Greetings.

Thought I'd take a few moments to give everyone an update as to where version 2.2 stands. (as of this writing, very early in the am on the 5th)

The question on everyone's mind is "When's it coming out?". It does seem like it's been a long time coming. I started work on 2.2 in October and in that time there has been a lot of changes and improvements. The feature set has been locked for while now and it's mostly just slamming away at the almost nightly builds. Even though it is feature locked, I do manage to squeak in a new feature here and there just to keep the testers on their toes [:)]

SmilinJack; I'm afraid I won't make your birthday exactly but would your birthmonth do?

Matrix and I chose a release date about 3 months ago. So far, everything is right on track. And baring anything completely unforeseen it should be released on our target date. Over the next week to 10 days the www.maximum-football.com website will be updated to reflect updated screens and the final feature list will be posted there as well. All that work is done already, it's just not pushed live to my servers.

This weekend is mostly writing Manual errata and readme files as well as end to end testing.

Thanks David for the quick update and look forward to it's release. Also, thanks to the testers for helping this update become a reality for us.

the anxiety is killing me, but will i have time to play it!

hmmm..i wonder if the chief will let me load the game into my patrol car computer? doubtful!

can't wait to see the final results...

It will not be coming this weekend, but it looks to be soon.  I know that is vague, but I really can't say more than that, as I don't know if any small things will pop up here in testing.  I am sure David will keep the community informed.
 
2.2 is not a major on field graphics upgrade, so I am unsure if screenshots will help.   Improved graphics are scheduled for 3.0, which is many months off.

Thanks for the heads up [;)]

Hopefully, no bugs will pop up this week and we'll see the release in its due time...looking forward to the enhancements, as well as trying out Old Coach's old-school league and playbooks with the 2.2 public release.

Oh but lets hope David doesn't fall prey to EA's model and make a graphics upgrade the priority of version 3. Do it, sure, but let's have it toward the bottom of the priority list - gameplay, gm features, and a revamped sim engine should all take precident over a graphical overhaul (and I think many of the die hards here would agree). Indeed, I believe an improvement in player animation should even be ahead of a strict graphics improvement, IMHO.

I agree with redwolf1. Graphics are fine. Lets get the GM side where some of the text based baseball sims are.

Redwolf1 I do think maximum should go after the GM, total control sim, and other league features, but I would also like better graphics.

Version 3.0 will have some measure of graphical improvements. Certainly better/new player animations. Maximum-Football is sold and marketed as a 3D graphical game. At the moment, the quality of 3D graphics is not where I'd like it. But to get it where I'd like it I'd need about 10 people working for me full time, plus probably in or around a million dollars. Unfortunately, that's not quite possible yet [:(].

My target major features for 3.0 are Online Game Play, Financials, Physics Based QuickSim, plus a couple of others that fall into the 'skunk works' category. Along with those major features the graphics of the game will be updated as well. Likely both on the interface side and the 3D graphics side.
