Suggestion for a game enhancement

Post by Jimmer »

The screen where one picks which minor countries one is willing to take control of is pretty detailed. However, there are some issues. For instance, let's say I'm playing GB, and I don't want to give France any chance of grabbing a minor out from underneath one of my allies (Prussia or Austria, mainly). In this case, after double-clicking the leftmost column to get them all selected, I would like to uncheck all of the ones that are between France and the central powers.

However, to do this, I have to know the names of all of them. I'm very likely to not remember these while the interface is covering up the map.

What would be nice is to color-code the lines for each minor so that they are the same color as the main color for the nearest major power. Ties can be broken manually.

So, for example, Mecklenburg would show up black (Prussia's main color). Lausitz would show up either black or orange (for Austria).

Since this would require yet another dynamic table for the game to keep track of, perhaps it could be done based on the game's STARTING positions, not current positions. People can figure it out as the game progresses. But, this is mostly something for the first couple of years anyhow, while the minors are still neutral.

Yeah, something should be done.  I'd at least like a 'Select All' button and maybe a 'Select All Influenced Minors' button.  The second option should probably be automatic at setup; influenced minors automatically become controlled by the influencing major, so what's the point of checking or unchecking this box?

You can select them all by double-clicking one of the entries.

I believe, however, that this is a toggle for ALL entries, not just blank ones. So, if you pick 10 of them and check them, and then double-click, those 10 will no longer be checked. Not totally certain of this last paragraph, however.
