Well, I think the Manassas(possibly Bull Run) had something that few of the alternatives had. Immersion. Just taking command of one single division and try to keep up with the others is great. I don't know of any other wargame that allows that. That Slitherine game for instance needs to allow the same if I am to buy it. I have no interest in managing millions of corps sized units.

What I am trying to say is that every new wargame attempting something similar should take a close look at this system (and Side Meiers games).

Hi Ray,

It's sad that he is struggling and I know how that feels but my prayers are with him.

Regards,

I am!

But the UI has got to be friendly enough to allow the player to handle an Army and it's subordinate Corps in battle.

That was one of the failings of the TC series... IMO.

I have to agree with you,, this was,,and is,, one of a number of problems with the TC series,,and I believe Norb and crew will deal with this with their new game plans at Norbsoft.  at least thats my hope.

But,, what needs not be hidden behind solid and appropriate critiques,, it to praise them for being so inovative just with developing the system to have subordinate AI commanders,,and Senior AI commanders to a certain degree,, have the ability to  work and operate in an intelligent and realistic manner to make it a real challenge to  "Be" a commander of  larger scale  formations,,and Not have to micromanage each and every unit on the game to have a very exciting,,and challenging game!!

That is their strength and it is most inovative...and,, an attempt to absolutely use the Computer Wargames for just what it should be absolutely best at...AI development for a challenging game against,, or in this case,, with the computer.. Meaning a strong AI that operates on both sides of the game,,you,, and them,,, :)

HistWars has a games producer that picked them up,, and is apparently letting him continue with development as He sees fit,, ie  no preasure from the producer to cut development short,,, to get it out.. this too is a critical ingredient needed to make these types of inovative Indi developed games come to life,, and have some sort of real economic future for them...
