Starting the Game

Post by Johnus »

When I start HCE it goes directly from the intro into a scenario (it seems at random). Then I need to go to file and open the scenario I want to play. Is this right ??

Yup, you are seeing the results of the "Instant Action" checkbox in the first patch. If you don't want to play the random scenario indeed go to File, then New, then click Yes to exit the current scenario, that will bring you back to the BattleSet Selector screen. You can uncheck Instant Action at that point and go find the scenario you wanted to play.

Having it checked by default wouldn't be my preference at all. It threw me off not even seeing the scenario selection screen after I first put the patch in. [X(]

Perhaps you could leave it unchecked by default?

If it is unchecked by default it skips the whole purpose of having it imho (not that I ever really like it either <g>). It will stay checked by default but I'll try to remember to not change the setting during patch installs (I thought 2008.024 was going to be distributed as a full install due to it being 'almost' the same size as a full install, hence checking the box). So how I intend it to work in the future is new installs will have the box checked by default and upgrade/patch installs will not overwrite whatever the player has as a current setting.

In a similar vein, is there any way you could arrange for patches at least not to lose the settings that control the size and position of the various game windows?

A definite maybe on that one, for instance the next patch will make the size of some windows larger so we'll probably reset all of the sizes again. Otherwise I would say yes [:(]
