AI beefed up; Now I have to actually THINK

Post by Jimmer »

OK, the AI has been improved in 1.02. So, now I have to use some basic tactics instead of just brute force.

But, a problem has cropped up: GB blockades all of my French ports, and even with a reasonable number of ships, too.

But, fortunately for me, I took Sweden when the Russians declared war on it. So, naturally, I attacked the British fleet blockading Amsterdam. Just as naturally, I lost the battle. But, I figured that I should now be able to move the other three fleets that were there out of port.

Here's where the problem comes in: I can't use stack movement, because the only two choices are "all ships" and "one fleet counter". But, two of the fleets have already moved. Thus, I can't attack with more than one fleet (even more of a suicide run, so I declined).

The interface needs a way to pick and choose fleets that are all in the same area to become a "stack". There are times when an armada traveling through an area with friendly ships MIGHT want to leave some behind, but not all. The option should be available. Perhaps implementing the ctrl and shift additions would help?

Actually I think that the stack move only applies to the selected fleets; so, if you have 3 fleets in an area, select 2 of them and activate stack move, only 2 should move.

That's the problem, HanBarca: There's no way to select the three fleets (of five). I can select one, but not more than one (except if I select them all, in which case they report movement remaining of zero).
