Battles - Who's in charge of defence ?

The manual says that the leader of a combined stack is "the leader of the phasing major power". But what if they're defending ?

Also in such a situation who should the battle file be sent to ?

I've seen the situation where Mack and 2 Austria corps are stacked with Hohenlohe and four Prussia corps. When attacked, Mack was the commander (Perhaps because he was A to Hohenlohe's B ?). In the boardgame Hohenlohe would have commanded because he had more corps there.

The battle file then had to be sent to the Prussian player, not the Austrian. But there was no indication of this, it had to be found by trial and error. Was this because Prussia had more corps present ?

Which defending leader commands when there are multiple defending leaders was already addressed and added to the addendum file (in “Data” folder) and the in-game manual.

CHANGE
Section: 13.8.6 Choosing Or Determining A Commander
Subsection: Commanders For Allied Armies
Change the subsection to read:

When attacking, the leader commanding the whole army must be a leader of the phasing major power. The leader with the highest seniority rating commands the defending army and when there are ties, the leader with the highest combined tactical and strategic rating. If there are still ties, the program gives command to the leader that was last to enter the area.


As for which defending player gets the files when there are multiple defenders; file exchanges should have followed along with the above deviation. I’ll look into it and write something up as needed.

Maybe there should be a pop-up box that shows up after the combat round is complete that
says something to the effect "Please send battle file C:\a\b\c.bat to player xxx (yyy@zzz.com)."
 
Thatway the attacker will know who SHOULD be running the other end of a battle if there are multiple defenders.

Ah, good to know -- that a shattered Austrian stack w/ Charles can still contribute significantly to the Prussians, or if Russia chooses to commit merely a B-level leader + a cav corp for mobility.
