To help pass the time waiting for PCK.....

Post by jamespcrowley »

wouldn't it be nice if a dev or tester generated a small random battle, played it, then posted a jolly little AAR here on the forum, replete with some juicy screenshots.

That would make for a very nice showcase, I think.
Cheers

Frankly, because we're all working too hard on getting this to go gold ASAP!

As soon as we go gold, I'll fire up a random battle and post some screenies and commentary.

At least Erik doesn't claim those tired old excuses about having to sleep
and eat at least every other day...

Yah know he's SUPPOSE to love wargaming as much as we do so a 72 hour session without sleep or a bath is not out of the question for someone who LOVES wargaming. ;) I remember those weekends from Friday after work (sometimes we finagled getting off at noon haha) till 10pm Sunday nights sessions. Beer, Soda, chips and dip, Domino's Pizza boxes everywhere lol. Funny thing everyone ALWAYS wanted to come to MY house for those sessions. Mainly because the other guys GF's or wives complained. lol I had the wargaming pad. A bedroom totally setup for wargaming with 4'x6' particle board gaming table. Stereo, Fridge and didn't have a care in the world if the guys or me made a mess. ;) Ahhhhh those were the days. THen I finally got a livein girlfriend and well you know the rest of that story. ;)

Not yet alas, still burning the midnight oil every day wrapping this up. We are day to day on gold status, but each day seems to bring a new bit of extra work so far, so we're not quite done.

Here's a little something while you wait...

More Screen Shots.

Erik wanted me to show off the new edit unit and gun xml feature.

How this works is that you open up the specs sheet for the unit you want to edit in the scenario editor and then press the edit unit xml or edit gun xml buttons. This will then load up the xml for those entities into your xml editor of choice. I use xml notepad 2007 by microsoft which is a totally free editor. You could also just use regular notepad if you prefer.

Once you make changes to the unit / gun xml then these changes get updated in the specs sheet both in the editor and in the game.

So editing the units and guns is really quick and painless now.

So you can edit any factor on any unit in the game then?

Good Hunting.
