Fun and Gun Playbook

Post by Marauders »

I am currently updating the Fun and Gun playbook.

The Fun and Gun playbook was the old American rules default playbook up to 2.0. The formations and plays were entered prior to the new depth charts, so some players are out of position, and some defensive zones are not set up as well as they could be. The defenses will be updated to reflect the new zone capabilities.

I would like to take a moment to make a few points.

The first is that no defense will be able to stop all offensive plays. That is realistic, and that is how it should be.

The second is that, in Maximum Football, one defensive play set against one offensive play may give different results. While testing one defensive play against a particular running play, the linebacker stuffed the runner for no gain on the first try, was blocked out of the play on the second attempt, and got through the block but missed the tackle on the third play. It was pretty cool to see how the match ups had three different results in three attempts.

The third point is that the updated Fun and Gun playbook is almost ready, but it will likely have to be released with the first patch after the 2.2 public release. Those of you who still use the Fun and Gun will have to wait just a bit longer for it. I am adding some actual Steve Spurrier style Fun and Gun formations and plays, so it will be closer to the real thing.

I will be updating the CFL and indoor playbooks in turn as well.

Sounds great Marauders. I can't wait for a updated more realistic indoor playbook.

Since most of the original offensive plays of the Fun and Gun were not created by me, I suspect it would be a better idea to post it to this board first and then include it as part of any future patch.  I think that shouldn't be a problem.
