Take a look, I think it's pretty interesting. Can we get up a good community and make this more popular than SPWAW?

Off hand, I'd say no...

I think it could use som graphics. My main grief with spwaw is that after ten years it looks like a crap stain on the screen of 32" LCD.

RE: Armored Brigade - New freeware game
I played one scenario for about 25 minutes of game time. I am impressed. It strikes me as similar to TacOps but with the incredibly important ability of a scenario maker.
Already, I feel that the AI's use of artillery is much better than Steel Panthers. The AI used artillery to nail me a few times.
In the end.......... I will play this game again and think it has the foundation for success. I like it.

Hehe. Not often you see Finland in a wargame focusing on armored combat.
Finns are supposed to use skiis and swiss army knives as main weapon (and a bottle of Kossu as power drink)

It's quite impressive actually. Considering it's a pre-release and freeware, apparently developed by one individual, I think it has tremendous potential and shows off some great design and development work so far.

If you want to see a truly impressive AI utilization of artillery take a look at Conquest of the Aegean!

Very promising IMHO, and very playable for something at that stage of development. I'm a sucker for anything in that time period, though... I hope he doesn't move on to the threatened '39 to '45 stuff until that game is pretty much sorted.
IM(V)HO Matrix would do far better picking up and nurturing this than fannying about with assorted re-releases nobody seems to buying. Still, what do I know.

I agree. And for period, I would prefer the later modern rather than WWII.
Very impressive.

Hi,
I agree. I think the COTA game is the best out there.

Interesting choise of time period and theater. It does have the "feel" of CoTA just looking at the screenies.
Might be fun, who knows. Seems like all the basics are there for a fun game.

History began July 4th, 1776. Anything before that was a mistake.

This was posted at Shrapnel's WinSPMBT forum in a thread about remaking MBT
I don't do RealTime games but at least this one is order while paused. I tried the TacOps demo and found it a little hard to grasp. TacOps is platoon level and WEGO.
Nice to see something new other than Close Combat and Steel Panthers. I'll give this a try when my other projects are finished.

Maybe not, the closest (and almost identical) thing to SPMBT in real time you´re going to find, with the same type of graphics and 2D top view, is Armoredbrigade. I´ve been testing it for a couple of months now and I think it is very promising and I widely recomend it. It has an order-while-paused feature so you have all the time you want to think with pretty decent detail. It´s a free download
Main page: www.armoredbrigade.com
Download v4.20: www.armoredbrigade.com/download.html
The full game files take only 23Mb on your desktop with no install neded, just downlad the ZIP, extract and run the exe. I understand it´s made with a tool named "clanlib" which seems pretty functional, never crashed once.

Roberto

Okay, I was originally unimpressed however after having taken a second look this game has potential. I can see this game doing well.

So how does this game differ from ProSim's ATF/BCT RTS simulations?

It seems all the activity has broken the website.
For starters it's free.
