Modern scenario problem

Post by BULLDOGINTHEUK »

I am thinking about doing a modern scenario, probably the falklands conflict or a West v Russia cold war type thing. There are a number of issues that I still need resolved that I do not know how to solve. I was wondering if anyone could help?

1/ Radar - Modern ships have radar that can spot stuff for miles away but I am not sure how to get the AT engine to allow units to see further in 'sea' hexes. Increasing a units recon value only lets you see what a unit is composed of when it is near to it so that's not the answer.

2/ Missiles - Do I just give ships a massive artillery range? or should I have missiles as a SFT type and used like a carrier to fire off (in effect they would act like fighters but die on impact). Trouble is they would be able to land on friendly airbases etc so this would not be real.

Before I can give my opinion, I have a doubt. What happen when you have differents air SF´s with different ranges in the same unit?

I am not sure but I would imagine it just uses the lower ranged SFT.

If it is true than we have a trouble with both carriers and missiles.

Seille told us that it will use the smaller range, so, don´t use them as planes. Use missiles as artillery.

I had forgot about that Mod he was doing. It was looking lovely, a bit better than I could do. Pity he hasn't posted for a while he was working on some nice stuff.

I saw his name listed as being online here not too long ago, but haven't seen him post anything lately.

I hope he's just busy working on mods. He made quite a splash with his firt, and I was hoping to see what he'd do with the NEXT WAR, that's one of the monster SPI games that I missed (couldnt afford the money or the space at that time in my life).
