I don't recall ever being beaten by the AI or even having a close game for that matter.  I'll update my opinion after trying the patch.

Hi,

I arrive late at the battlefield. Nevertheless, let me share with you two early experiences with the first game in the series : RDoA. They prove how the AI can be unpredictable and give you a run for your money. Hence a great replayability.

1. The first scenario I played was Drive to Loenen. It's small. 12 hours long. You play as an America Regiment commander. Now, it took me 20 tries (at least) to break it. At the rate of 3 or 4 per seating. Whatever route I could think of, I found the AI in front of me. And not always the same units. I never managed to know when and where the armor will pop-up to butcher my poor bloddy infantry. I once thought they implemented a kind of random placement at start. But no.
That scenario is also in HTTR (as Advance on Loenen). It's the first I chose to play with that game. Guess what ? I lost the first time !

2. Juggernaut scenario. I'll make the long story short. I was surprised by the AI trying to sneak to my right flank. I broke the assault and closed the breach with the Hussard. The morning after, I decided to go "en force" to the center objective. At the same moment, the AI counter-attacked. From where I was seated, the flanking manoeuver was nothing more than a spoiler attack and I fell for the trap, leaving Deelen airfield exposed for a while. The AI can exploit that sort of things.

Cheers,

JeF.
