Did I download the latest version?

Gary Grigsby’s World at War is back with a whole new set of features. World at War: A World Divided still gives complete control over the production, research and military strategy for your side, but in this new updated version you’ll also be able to bring spies into the mix as well as neutral country diplomacy, variable political events and much more. Perhaps the largest item is the ability to play a special Soviet vs. Allies scenario that occurs after the end of World War II.

Did I download the latest version?

Post by Kwik E Mart »

Forgive a simpleton, but I'm pretty sure my first screen upon loading says version 1020...latest download appears to be 1.011...is there a missing decimal in the 1020? Do I have the latest version?

Thanks in advance...

When you purchase the game I think it's now coming with the latest version, which is v1.02, only thing this is a beta patch. Wanderinghead (Brian BAnister) is working on the patch.

When you save your games make sure you delete the autosave that comes default with the game in the dat/save folder before you load them again or you will get a runtime error and the game will crash to desktop, this is because that autosave is from previous verisions which are not compatible with the latest v1.02.

It sounds like you have 1.020. v1.020 is a public beta, i.e. it is released to the public but at the time of release it wasn't deemed completely stable and bug-free. In practice it looks pretty good (only one minor new bug, but many fixed bugs and new features), but at the time it was released I wasn't yet sure.

I don't know what the screen displays for v1.020. Those version numbers on the screen are particularly confusing to me, because they read something from the registry not the game executable. So I have all kinds of versions but they all say exactly the same thing ...

Check your game directory ("Matrix Games\Gary Grigsby's World at War A World Divided" by default) for "AWD Readme for version 1.020.rtf". This is the file that describes the changes in the v1.020 beta, which would be installed if you installed that beta.

The beta is available in the Members section, so you won't see it as a regular download. But you should be able to join and register and get it if you don't have it.
