User Scenario Load Error

Post by miller7219 »

Hi. I'm experiencing an error message after I do the following:

1. Edit the database using the PE
2. Export the edited database
3. Create a scenario using the Scenario Editor
4. Run GE, select the user scenario created
5. Box with options comes up (asking for Nuke release, auto formation control, etc)
6. Click OK and then:

I get an error window:

ADDIDToList Error: Expected a disk ID, got 0 (0x0)
This message has been logged, the program will now terminate

I'm running the most recent patch version released a week or so ago.

By the way...the GE runs the canned scenarios no prblem after the PE export.

Let me know if there's any additional info you need.

Look for an empty Group (no units added) in your scenario. You can use the spacebar or Backspace buttons to cycle through them. The GE doesn't tolerate empty Groups.

Nope...no empty groups. It's a simple little scenario I was trying to create to test out a few tweaks...consists of 2 groups (Red and a Blue) with 1 ship each. Both ships are a FF Knox as existing in the original database. I just tweaked a few of the mounts and added an already existing sensor to the ship. Scenario is complete with end time, victory conditions, orders for both groups...only thing I didn't add is variable start points since this is a little test scenario only.

What is the error message indicating it's not finding when trying to load the scenario?

By the way...the error box that comes up and reads what I listed in the prior post is headed "GetAnnex Error". Seems the scenario is having problems reading the data annex? Interestingly enough if I load a canned scenario and go the the database from within it and select the FF Knox...all the edits I made in the database show just fine (I lowered the targets from 2 to 1 on the Mk15 Phalanx Blk 0, and the sensor I added shows, for example). Seems has to be something with how the SE is saving the game maybe? The file it saves is the default .SCm. Anyone else experience this problem?

Definitely a DB editing problem (or the empty group thing).  Correct, the GE is trying to figure out which items it needs to load from the DB and is failing.

You can always zip up your commondb.res and scenario file and e-mail the zip file to HC3@harpgamer.com so that we can take a look.  These are almost always little overlooked mistakes in editing the DB.

Looks like your Knox had a spurious sensor entry, in the screenshot, note the 0 sensor just below your towed array. I removed that and was able to export and load the scenario in the GE. I did cheat to find that by using the debugger but given enough time and your good note that you were working on Knox and it could have been found traditionally.

Thanks, Tony. Removed it and works fine. I'll keep an eye out for this little problem in the future.

Yeah, that's a pretty easy mistake to make, iirc, just hit the enter key once too often ...[:(]
