RCS & BSL

Post by miller7219 »

Hi. Are there standardized tables or fprmulas of some sort to help determine proper RCS and BSL for platforms? If not what would be a good baseline to uses? Example:

Average Small Combatant BSL 40 RCS 179
Average FF/FFG BSL 42 RCS 210
Average CG
Average Carrier
Etc
Etc

Modifiers:

Nuclear -2 to BSL
Stealthy -10 to -120 RCS
Quiet Prop -4 to BSL

Something along these lines.....or is there a formula method to RCS specifically where using the length/beam/draft can create a linear base RCS then have a list of standardized modified (like stealth design, or absorbant materiials) to consult.

Bottom line, is there any standards the database junkies (like) me have created to aid uniformity in existing platfroms and the the cretion of new ones? If it is all subjective, can an experience database editor share some words of wisdom on use proper judgement to create accurate RCS and BSL for ships/subs?

As programmer guy I can point you to an outgrowth of the spreadsheet I used when creating the radar model.

The DB guys will indeed have to share any other handy strategies.

I use a comparative approach, using those initial spreadsheet values as a foundation. So, for new platforms, I compare it with similar existing entries and then factor in any different stealth features.
