2.2 Impressions

Post by 22sec »

First off, thanks. I had a huge[:D]smile when I played my first game, and the home team was on defense, and the crowd broke into the, "Defense, Defense" cheer....nice suprise. Now question, can that file be edited???

Great to see all the new stat categories, my question is are those not viewable during a game. I've only tried one Quick Play game, and just saw all the old stats.

OK enough time here, must get back to 2.2 before the children get home[:D]

The end of game stats are the same as they always have been. So you're not going to see the stats enhancements for a Quick Play game. The new stats enhancements were targeted towards league games.

All the game sounds are found in the sounds folder.

thanks

21SEC, you will see the new stats when viewing the Stats in League play. Nice stuff for sure. Its not something that shows up in the gamelog.

Long as its there for league play. I flipped through the league stats, and did a happy dance seeing everything that is now tracked.

Will any *.wav file work for the sound?

Yes, but you can get strange results if the files are too long.

I have Iron Maiden and the Scorpions crank up for first downs and scores.  Obviously, the game cannot provide those artists in-box without paying royalties, but perhaps some music could be added in an expansion pack; it was one of the selections in the poll.

I need to figure out what I did wrong. I tried to replace a file, and all I get is silence. I think the file I want to use is somewhat shorter than the original.[&:]

The duration of the sound shouldn't make a difference. Other than if it's too long, it may not be finished by the time another sound by the same source needs to start. To conserve memory I only allow 5 sounds at a time, and one of those is the looped ambient crowd noise.

Have a look at the frequency, bitrate, and codec of the sound you're trying to replace and match that.

It was actually the theme music I was playing with. I found a wav of CBS College Football theme music[:)]

On to other impressions, the playbook editor.....THANK YOU[&o][&o][&o] This was the frusteration that caused me to quit playing MFB following the last patch. It is so much QUICKER. Still playing around with it, but it seems like most everything else with this game it has finally reached its potential.

Correct, that is a huge problem with music using differing tempo.

I  have been able to use that to an advantage though.

Marauders, any chance you could provide a small tutorial on changing sounds? I must confess that my editing skills are sorely lacking.

It is simple to change a sound.  Just rename a .wav file and copy it to the folder.

The problem is that I don't have a file map for the sound files, so I do not know when each sound is triggered in the game.  That would be very helpful in modding the game.

I haven't had a chance to sim much due to time but one thing I would have love to have seen in this version is team defensive stats.
