CHINA
Things have stalemated again and I can't seem to make any headway against Ichang. I expected to make some progress there against his fortifications with 2 ENGR RGTs in addition to several Divisions, but so far I have made none at great cost. My Tank Rgt which has Blitzed in the empty area beteween his fortified cities of Homan and Ichang, will soon cut his lines of communication between Ichang and Chungking.
INDIA-BURMA
He marched troops towards the Mandalay-Mytinka road junction. He then bombed Mytinka with his Liberatos before returning them to bombing my resource centers in the area. Using the Liberators makes me think that Mytinka is his primary objective, but I have yet to spot any troops moving from Ledo or South from China. I have moved more troops and OSCARS into the region and have added a few IJA Base Forces as well. I will be moving my Sentai of TOJO's there in a few days to surprise his unescorted bombers.
OZ Due to the bogged down nature and slow advance of my North Western Australian campaign and my general sloppiness I have had to postpone (read most likely abandon) my plan to invade Eastern Australia. Troops from Wyndham are spreading out towards both Darwin and Derby. The 7th Tank Rgt and 35th Brigade will attempt to cutoff Darwin before more Kangaroos arrive. I have to assume he is sending at least another Australian Division to Darwin, and hopefully they will be able to stop it. Two large SNLF's, a Large Naval Guard Detachment, a Field Arty Rgt, and an ENGR Rgt are pursuing the troops which retreated from Wyndham towards Derby. These troops with an additional Tank Rgt, Kure SNLF, and Mixed Rgt will attempt to secure Derby and Broome. If the fighting continues at Darwin we are loading another Infantry Division and preparing to move it out towards Darwin. In reserve we will have another Tank Rgt, and Mixed Brigade.
Unfortunately my 2 Datais of BETTYs at Kendari did not spot his British Carriers this turn.
On a side note 2 Datais of BETTY Bombers search the seas (40%-we really want to strike; heck we have some BABs & DINAHs there) around Java looking for the Royal Navy if they attempt to return to India.
SOUTHERN PACIFIC
Lunga is finally taken. Now I have to get most of those troops off of that malaria infested island and back to Truk so they can recover; except the 56th Brigade, he may prep for Efate.
Marching south to La Foa from Koumac is taking alot longer then I had hoped for the 16th Division. I couldn't believe when a Bombardment TF containing 2 BB and 4 CA encountered some American PT boats on the outskirts of Noumea harbor sunk a PT Boat, then turned and ran! ARRRRGGGGHHH! Oh Well.
Construction of the airfield at Luganville had slowed significantly, but since suppplies are unloading now, hopefully that will improve.
The SHOHO & ZUIHO are refitting a bit at Shortlands-they needed some more KATE pilots!
CENTPAC
Is anybody home? He mines Wake or Kwaj or MArcus with his Subs and runs, and for some reasons my DDs at Kwaj run it to the mines after the MSW have swept most of them-so no more DDs on ASW in Kwaj!
Recently RECONed Midway looks like he removed those tens of thousands of troops he hads there earlier....he he he he.
NORTHERN PACIFIC/ALEUTIANS
OK He's been bombing me alot at Adak Island and sent his Destroyers to chase away my PT boats, now why would he do that? I'm guessing that pretty soon he's planning on trying to use that big burly 1st Marine Division in Dutch Harbor. I've ignored this area for a while myself but his bombings the last few turns made look at all my bases, and many are in need of resupply. Plus the fact that I just got the HIYO [yeah accelerated production] so let me send it to a low risk get hit by LBA theater! I have no clue where the Hornet, his one undamage US Carrier is. But if I run in to the Hornet I'll have my own LBA at Attu & Kiska to back me up {at elast 1 datai each of ZEROs and NELLs}. I'll have my CVE TF which was going to escort the resupply effort go with the HIYO, that'll add another 26 ZEROs, 14 KATEs & 27 VALs to the mix.

E = 26 OSCAR, 18 A6M3, 22 SALLY, 21 HELEN, 8 BABS. AN IJA BaseForce, AA Bn, 1st PARA Rgt, Plus 2 Tank Rgts unloading.

G = 27 A6M2 (only 60 experience)
H = 23 A6M3

J = 5th & 38th Infantry Divisions, 4th Tank Rgt, 15th Mortar Bn, 1st Hy FA Rgt, 3rd ENGR Rgt (Unloading), 16th ARMY HQ, & 3200 supply on the TFs still unloading.
I guess its time for a state of the game kind of post since I really haven't been posting aloting turn notes or thougths along with my combat results!
BURMA
Well as I had expected his target is Myitkyina. Although I didn't think he'd try to come in from the NE with Chinese troops. Pretty surprised that the unit I had north of Lashio never saw his Chinese units accross the border, but c'est la guerre! Anyway I have the 33rd Infantry Division there, fortified and he'll have to cross a river to attack me. Plus the 23rd Mixed Brigade is moving forward from Mandalay. Actually I expect to see more Chinese & CW units marching towards my front from Ledo now as well.
CHINA
Pretty much a disappointment, but thats mostly because of the way I handled things initially. I thought I could steamroll the Chinese like in the old board game. My Tanks seem to have encircled Ichang, so now we'll see if that will have any effect on the siege there.
DEI +NW OZ
Looks like his RN Carriers may have slipped bye me and back to India AGAIN! Do have a spot this turn but its of APs moving towards OZ, not that my 2 Datais of BETTY and Java choose to strike!
Looks like those reinforcements of his were clkoser then the hex then was reported by my Sigint! It will probably arrive in Darwin tomorrow. More supply will be unloaded at Darwin to rebuild my troops and then the assault will continue. Another Division and brigade are about 4-5 days out for the Darwin invasion and hopefully they will tip the balance. I have troops racing to Derby and plan to bring 1 or 2 SNLF units there by sea as well as a PARA Bn as well. I am also considering using an IJA Mixed Rgt to take Broome simultaneously to the invasion of Derby, or possibly a day or two later with another PARA Bn.
SOUTHERN PACIFIC
All things are quiet again at Port Moresby after the one B-24 raid. As I had suspected that was probably a diversion or an attempted distraction. Looks like my Nells found some DDs trying to Fast Transport some supply to Thursday Island, 1 sunk-let see what happens now.
More supply is unloading at Luganville and I think I need 2:1 ratio of whats required for my Betty's to use torpedos even though its only a level 3 air field. The 4th Infantry is also loading at Luganville and I had been planning to use it to invade Efate. Unfortunately his ground combat 3's jumped at Efate to over 20,000 men today. They had not been that high in recent recon flights. If I must postpone, the 4th Infantry, will reroute to New Caledonia.
The push on New Caledonia is going slower then I had hoped, but troops are unloading and with a little luck the 2nd Infantry Division will be in La Foa soon and then the siege of Noumea will be next.
CENTRAL PACIFIC
Not alot except US Subs mine every base I have and I sweep'em! Going to start some Recon flights of Midway again and take a look at whats there. He's getting the Wasp soon and maybe we can get her to come out and play!
THE NORTH PACIFIC
He really shjould have left this front alone till he was ready to invade, cause I might have forgotten about it! But when he went after my PT Boats and sent a couple of bombing missions at Adak Island it reminded me to take a look! I need alot of supply there and its on its way. The newly launched CV HIYO with the CVE TF are are there way to make sure that no funny business will be happening. I feel this gives me a pretty strong force considering only the Hornet is 100% operational. The Lexington which was the 1st damaged and I believe will be the 1st US CV to return to duty was last spotted by a Glen in Sydney port several weeks ago. The CVEs are carrying 26 A6M2'S, 27 VALs, & 14 KATE's; while the entire TF's KATEs have mediocre Experience the A6M2's and VALs are all above 75-hopefully #s of KATE's as well as good fighter cover will help me in any Carrier confrontation. Which in fact I am not hoping for, but if I can trade a CVE or two for the Hornet, I'll take it.
THE PACIFIC AS WE KNOW IT!

Well the 7th TANK RGT has cutoff Darwin, but not before the 2nd Australian Infantry Division could arrive. But we did prevent the Ist Australian Corps HQ unit from enetering Darwin. The 35th Brigade will be in Darwin in a few days with another Tank Rgt racing behind. I will unload more supply over the beached at Darwin and rest the troops there, while the 35th Brigade marches overland.

The 21st Mixed Brigade, 2nd Area Army HQ, & a large SNLF have completed unloading at Koumac, and will join the 2nd Infantry Division marching south towardsLa Foa. I had hoped that the 2nd Infantry would have reached La Foa by now, but all in good time. Additionally a Large Naval Guard Infantry and an AA Bn have also unloaded at Koumac, but they will remain to defend the base.
It seems the Allies have marched the 41st USA Division north to join the elements of the 24th Division and 14th NZ Bge which had been the corner stones of their defense.

Well when we started this game we (Floyd & I) both said it was going to be a learning experience and boy has it been one for me. Floyd has always been the better planner, while I have always had a better sense of a flow of things and able to imrovise on the fly. Where in the smaller scenarios you can fly more by the seat of your pants, you can not do that in with the Big Map! Many of my adventures have not been as well planned out as they should have been and that has cost me geatly in Northern Australia. The only really Operation/Invasion I planned out was the invasion of Port Moresby and that one worked perfectly. Just like in football its Detail, Details, and Details!
In many events I have to make up for my mistakes with hard fighting and the superiority of the Japanese forces available. Now there have been a few times where my improvisational skills have created opportunites and small victories, but I expected these and they would be making a bigger difference if not for a lack of 'proper, prior, preparation'.
Also the fact that it has taken me several months of game time to actually understand Japanese Economy and Production is not a good thing either. Luckily I haven't run the economy into the ground, yet....but it looks like I need to get oil to China, Formossa, & Singapore.
Plus I want to note that, that darned Rascally Rabbit Floyd has made a few good manuevers of his own!
Well the 60 mile movement bug apparently hit me. My Tank Rgt was stuck outside of Derby so when the Allies attacked they easily drove my SNLF & Arty Rgt from the city. Also the 2nd Infantry Division is paused/stuck outside La Foa on New Caledonia.
Hopefully they will unstick themselves today.
My decision to strike Norfolk Island was bad; the results sucked and it looks like more transports slipped in to Noumea harbor. Why my BETYY Datais at Luganville didn't strike-I do not know. As I've said earlier I find it curious that it seems several of my air units will not attack for days, while in our previous game I almost totally ignored their fatigue and morale and they sruck daily (they often turned back against strong fighter CAP, but at least they flew).

I'm waiting for an attack to come in the Aleutians. But me and my big mouth probably warned him that I knew something was coming. [:D] I told him he should've waited to attack Adak Island and then bombard only before he invades; not a week in advance! If he would be bombing Adak Island occassionally with his B-26 it wouldn't have been so obvious as to do it on a regular basis, then have his Destroyers come in to chase away my PT Boats, and then bombard. I can't believe he hasn't invaded yet, although maybe he's afraid I have a trap of some sorts waiting for him. I have moved the HIYO & the CVE TF to the Aleutians, but who knows what good they'll do if he has both the Hornet and the Wasp up there!
