Sudden big drop in vehicle pool

Post by Chimaera »

This is CHS 155, v 2.08, playing Japan.

On Jan 6, 1943 my vehicle pool was well over 6000. Two days later, it's plummeted to 1040. The only tank reinforcement in the pipeline is the 2nd Tank Division, and that's hundreds of days away.

I checked some of my main tank units - the tank numbers are pretty much the same, and the vehicles didn't get upgraded or anything. I remember when a Tank Division arrives, I lose something like 4000 points in the vehicle pool, but no armored units have arrived in the days the drop happened.

Am I missing something (maybe some event that happens in early 1943) or did the pool mysteriously get shrunk? [&:]

Thanks!

Check to see how many of your tank units have replacements on.  If so, some may have upgraded to a new tank.

I actually don't know the answer to your question, but this is a guess...

Maybe there is something that recycles items back into the pool, similar to the way it reccyles extra airframes?

Dunno, just guessing.

Mike - all my tank units have replacements on, but I only found ONE unit which upgraded its Type 1 medium tanks to Type 3. This only involved 53 tanks, which shouldn't cause my pool to drop over 5000 points. None of the other tank units seem to have upgraded any equipment. Unless other upgrades happened in some other non-tank units?

Feinder - interesting point. I've no idea how this works though. How do extra airframes get recycled?

Andy - nope, nothing arrived during the period where the big drop happened.

Thanks for replies all!

If I were you, I would just shut down vehicle production for the rest of the game to be safe. [:'(]

Hi, I don't have my rule book here. Is the pool 1for1 conversion (A vehicle is a vehicle is a vehicle no matter what) or do the points get consumed based on the vehicles load point cost.
Every replacement eats supply equal to it's load point cost the instant it is placed on map. And only 25 percent of supply present at a base can be used as such.   (When you add aircraft to Daitai at Rabaul Rabaul expends supply equal to load costs of all those aircraft)

I can't remember vehicles.  Or arms.

Hey, I bet you don't have your rule book ... we just hope you have some food and decent environmentals ... and lack of enemy activity!!!

Return home safe and sound and we will be happy!

Thanks for the input Mogami. I'm also of the opinion the drop was caused by something along the lines of vehicle eplacements and/or 'subtle' upgrades that are kinda hard to locate [;)]

Feinder - interesting point. I've no idea how this works though. How do extra airframes get recycled?

I forget the formula exactly, but basically what it does is keeps a maximum of 10x the number of airframes for the current squadrons and reinforcment squadrons, in the pool. If it goes in excess, it returns the engines(?) back to their pools (perhaps for some loss, I don't remember).

So if you have a single 9-plane squadron of Nates, and another 12-plane squadron of Nates on the reinforcment track, it will build up 210 Nates for the pool, it will stop building. And if you then upgrade that 9-plane squadron (leaving you only the 12-plane squadron), if you have those 210 planes in pool, you new max is now 120, so the 90 extra in the pool are recycled.

Hi, I am at Camp Arifjan in Kuwait. ("Camp Cupcake") All other things being equal I am likely located in one of the safest places on the planet. Everyone here has been through medical screening and conducts regular PT so the population is healthy. We are all in the military so we are all polite to each other. The chow is fine and all that. I'm not certain how often (if ever) I will be required to go outside the wire. I work in the basement of a well constructed structure. (as opposed to being in a tent) So in the unlikley event of a rocket or mortar attack I'm under better protection then most.
I'm afraid boredom is my largest danger. I do not yet have a computer (I'm paying $5 per hour for this one) I didn't bring any of my computer games and the Exchange does not appear to have any.
So I am hoping my job keeps me busy.
All in all I am a happy camper.
I am goig to buy a laptop on the first of May and internet service via wireless is only $35 per month.

$35/month wireless access at Camp Afrajan.  Man you suck.  It's like $65/month here at Camp Stryker in Baghdad and I average about a 4kb download speed.

Good to hear from you, Russ. Do you think that you'll be able to download WITP and AE over your wireless connection there? You've already gone too long without a fix!
