Far as I know, EE fits on top of GE. If you're both EE at latest patch, you should be good to go.

Wicked. Will upgrading invalidate my current Mega Campaign saves?

Not sure it would necessarily invalidate them, but it might turn up strange and bizarre items in your weapons database.

yes you can upgrade to Enhanced and then play PBEM with him.ORIGINAL: Speedy
Hi guys,
Excuse the ignorance here[:)]
So am I right in thinking that even though I have SPWAWGE and Chad has SPWAWEE IF I upgrade to 8.403 and Enhanced Edition (what is DV and DVRN?[:)]) we'll be ok to PBEM?
Thanks,
Steven
Enhanced can be installed and uninstalled whenever you wish 'on top of' GE

Excuse me, what does EE stand for?
You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.

Also guys,
2 further questions from this dumbass.
1. Do you install Full DV update and THEN 8.403 patch or vice versa?
2. Other than installing the full (70ish MB) DV update are there any other files needed to be installed to be fully upto date? For example are scenario files included in this?
Thanks

DV and DVRN are functionally the same: the OOB data is all identical, the only difference is that DV uses as much "native language" unit names as we could find, while DVRN only uses those that are easily translated into English (such as the French mortier for mortar). However, because the two files are created separately, at different times, their date-time stamps are different, and the game expects these to be the same between PBEM opponents; you will see a Security Warning about the OOBs being corrupt. They aren't, just not identical.
Enhanced is a Mod, not a patch or update to the official game; you should follow the patch/update schedule as listed: install 8.2, apply 8.3 patch, then 8.4, then 8.403. Or, install the General's Edition, which has done all this for you. The Enhanced Mod file goes into your MODS folder in the main Steel Panthers game folder; you access it by the use of the ModSwapper program, also located in the main SP folder. Once in the ModSwapper, select the Mod from the list (if nothing shows, navigate to the MODS folder), and install. When you want to play without the Enhanced Mod (why anyone would is beyond me [;)]), just reverse the process.
No scenario or campaign files are included; to get the ones that have been checked and updated for use with Enhanced, go here: http://enhanced.freeforums.org/index.php

RE: Best way to play SP:WAW PBEM?
Hmm. Thanks.
I'm a little baffled then since we're both upto 8.403 and I was on DV and Chad on DVRN. Started "Some Tough Mates" scenario. I was Anzac. Entered my password sent to Chad, he entered his and sent back, I then ran the first turn (fine) and then when Chad opened it it said something about corruption but ALSO there were some issues with the map.
As such we're playing stock on 8.40 at the moment[:(]

Yes they were refering to Enhanced and The Generals Edition, using "EE" and "GE"
so I assumed what they meant was GE=Generals Edition. EE=Enhanced Edition

RE: Best way to play SP:WAW PBEM?
Yes. Because Fire Control is a measure of how stable the weapon's firing platform is, and humans holding weapons are the least stable of mountings. Bipods and tripods are more so, vehicles better, and forts and large emplacements the most stable. Range Finding is a measure of the ranging gear attached to the weapon; infantry have nothing more than their naked eyes and some iron sights to calculate range.ORIGINAL: Speedy

In fact, many of the units had their FC and Rangefinder ratings reduced; the original version did not have these ranked as high as later versions of SPWAW had. Remember, this game is built off of the SPIII game engine, which was a modern-day game, covering tanks from the Sherman to the Abrams; much of the data was representing modern laser rangefinders and computer-controlled aiming and stabilization systems. Putting those numbers into WWII-era units made the game feel more like a modern sim, with units achiebing hits on the very first shot at long range. Not many weapon systems in the 30s-40s could do that consistently.
