Game setup menu problems

Post by timewalker03 »

When I click on the Quick game setup menu I see the check boxes and selection toggles, but no words come up describing what the feature is. I can use the manual and match up what each selection is, but that is actually tedious. Any help to fix this would be great. Also My video drivers are up to date.

Can you please post a screen shot?? Is it just the rules selection?

Do you have your machine setup for large font display or something like that?

This is the screen as I see it. I use Snag It to capture it so you can see exactly what I see.

My fonts are set to normal. This is from a quick game setup. Have not tried league stuff yet.

Hi.

That looks like you're running out of video memory. Although, I would have to think that even the most basic graphics card could display a few textures.

Can you please post a DX diagnostic file. The instructions for doing that are here: http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=1077033

On a side note: those new 3D stadium graphics from that screenshot above are really great!

When will that Expansion Pack be ready?

Here is the file. Everything said it was working.

When I started a league, I had no problems. I have not tried to play a game yet in league. Will try tonight.

OK just tried to setup league rules and the same problem occurred. Boxes and toggles for selection, but no wording.

thanks.. the card should be okay. Google shows a few problem reports but I'm not sure those reports are related.

If you can try the league screens as well as the other quick play screens that would be helpful. The rest of the artwork looks to be showing up so I'm not sure why that one texture would be a problem.

thanks

I originally posted that the drivers needed to be updated, but it looks like 2006 was the last driver update for that card.

Thanks Lucas.

Seems you're right. Those drivers are up to date, but they're also over 2 years old.

Driver Date/Size: 5/3/2006 11:51:00, 258048 bytes

Is this the card you're using?

You would think that ATI would have more recent drivers, but it seems they don't: http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/xp/r ... 00-xp.html

okay, I did a bit more research on the ATI Radeon 9200 se (note the SE part is a big deal unfortunately). That card came out in 2004, which is not too in of itself (I have a Geforce4 that's a bit older), but it was a mid range card at the time. 128MB is the minimum memory (so you're okay there) but all the information I can find on it says it's a DirectX 8.1 compatible card only.

I think this problem boils down to the cards drivers no longer being compatible with DirectX 9. It's really weird that some textures display, but not others.

The ATI Radeon 9200 se is a DirectX 8.1 card that does not do shaders in hardware.

It is slower than the GeForce 5200 Ultra that I have on my old machine, and it will be difficult to play games in anything but the lowest settings with it.

Is there a list anywhere of video cards compatible to this game. If I Buy a new on I want to make sure it is compatible and not waste any money.

Here is an earlier thread on this topic.

It may answer most of your questions.

What wattage is your power supply?

Is your AGP slot 8x or 4x compatable?
