Anyone running Vista x64 and HCE?

This new Commander's Edition of Harpoon Classic includes land units, neutral and unknown sides, an improved radar and area ECM model and a host of other improvements. Rounding that out are over 200 scenarios and the WestPac Battleset. Try out this great new version of the classic Harpoon!

Anyone running Vista x64 and HCE?

Post by Brausepaul »

Hi,

I'd like to know if anyone here runs HCE and Vista 64 bit edition with a dual core CPU or better. I wonder if there are any issues regarding this combination.

I have that combo available and have run HC, though it isn't my primary HC setup. No troubles outside of the 16-bit SE not running on 64-bit operating systems (hello VMWare <g>).

I run a quadcore, no problems with either CE or ANW.

Thank you for your replies. TonyE, what's the 16-bit SE? I'm well aware what VMware is, though.

The SE is the Scenario Editor that comes with the game.

TonyE: do I understand you correctly that you use Vmware with a 64 bit edition of Vista as host OS? I wasn't able to do this some weeks ago and Vista 64 bit wasn't mentioned as supported host OS. Do you use Vmware Player or did you create a virtual appliances on your own?

I justed tested on Vista 64-bit host, VMWare Workstation 6.03. I was able to open my VMs (tested Win95, Win2000, WinXP), all worked according to plan. Network access was fine, ran HC in the WinXP VM, ran the PE in Win95.

Just to add to this, if you are not lucky enough to have a copy of VMware for yourself, go to the Microsoft website and find the free download for Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 this will do the job just dandy, I use it myself since I run Vista x64 and the SE works great for me.
