NTDS Symbols Avialabl??

Post by BarkhornXX »

Can you select these in this edition?

Thinking of buying but all the screenies I see have the "little ship/plane" symbols and I just don't like that look. I want more of an AEGIS screen feel.

Thanks.

With the game running, go to 'Settings', then 'Game Icons'.

Select 'CDS' at the bottom of the pop-up window.

Commence sinking enemy symbols. [;)]

Thank you.  And with a name like Leyte you would almost have to be into naval warfare! [8D]

We could use some community involvement in having someone create the NTDS symbols for land units, any volunteers?

Format:
16 pixel x 16 pixel black and white bitmap
Must be minimum 1 pixel white border around the entire image

See the attached example which is the actual ship icon for the game. Reply with your land unit NTDS suggestions in .gif format.

To see the gamut of existing icons in the game, Go to Settings\Game Icons, then click Other to see additional icons.

Just to be clear, you are saying that the NTDS does not have any symbols for land units, and you would like us to design some?

The game has no NTDS symbols for land units, and yes, we would like help coming up with some. [:)]

I'm guessing someone will be making little NATO symbols for the ground units?

Okay everyone, I made a big boo boo, the land units already had non-stylized icons! So the question becomes, do you like Warhorse64's icons better?

The ones already in the game are posted with this message.

I like mine better; I think they are cleaner and easier to recognize than the current game icons. That said, though, I use the stylized icons, so other than the potential for minor ego-boo, it really doesn't matter to me one way or the other ... [:D]

The AD and AD mobile pics look pretty good from Warhorse, however the armour and truck\convoy ones to me seem to depict an individual unit eg 1 tank or one truck.

Whereas in HCE its very rare we have single units on land, the current armor symbol looks dead on to me as does the current truck\convoy one, since they should represent a larger unit. (platoon up to company and brigade level)

Perhaps its just me being picky :)

Stalin --- you are correct that the armour and truck/convoy symbols are chosen to represent individual units of the type. I did it that way because in general the NTDS symbols represent individual units, although in game, and probably also in real life, they are sometimes used to represent multiple units or the dominant type in the group. Certainly we will need to represent individual tanks and trucks from time to time; see the Red forces in WestPac #3 as an example. However, if we are only going to use four symbols, it comes down to a matter of taste as to which one to use, I guess.  [:)]  Go ahead and be picky --- after all, they asked for your opinion, and I submitted stuff for your criticism!  [:D]

Yes im a picky so and so hehe.

As long as the symbols can be blown off the map with mass firepower, whichever is chosen will be just fine!

I guess playing Steel Beasts and learing the military icons has made me a bit screwy!

But yes like you say about the westpac scenarios there are individual units which need to be addressed also! :)
