Newbe questions

Post by tombo »

Hi All,

just starting here and could use some help with basics;

1.On the typical HQ screen shows "OP Level: 100:46"...what do numbers mean?
2. On typical DIv screen; " 45 INF DIV (280:33%)"...numbers?
3. On AC sreen; "Range: 10"...=hexes? Endurance =?

For airlift Supply: how estimate needed AC and Load?

How is RECON handled and how can i influence it?

For higher level HQs (OKH, Army groups).. how do players set/recommend computer control?

For bombing airfields...how estimate number AC/load for damage?

Any other guides available? I have manual and read.txt file. Also, any suggestions abbreciated too.

Once beat AI, hope to go multi-player.

thanks...

Hi Tombo and welcome to Wir community!
I'm not an expert (I began in February) but I can try to give you some advice:
first of all, forget the user manual – it's useless. You will find more information in the forum.
About HQ screen, “OP Level: 100” means you have 100 operation points. Don't look at the second number.
On Div screen “45 inf div (280:33%)”, 280 is the combat value, used to calculate odds and to decide who wins a battle.
33% is readiness – the percentage of units that will take part in combat.
On AC screen you should only look at load and range. Load is the power of your planes, range is how many hexes they can fly.
Don't let the computer control anything!
About Recon, I know you can spot enemy units max. 10 hexes from your HQ. It should depend on the number of planes, but I'm not sure.
I don't have much time to play Wir, but once I beat AI in a decent campaign, you'll be the first on my list.
I hope this helps you. You can send me a PM if there are other questions.
Regards,

Hi mate,
1.On the typical HQ screen shows "OP Level: 100:46"...what do numbers mean?

The 1st number is the reinforcement % level eg.. setting a HQ to 50 would only reinforce korps in this HQ's control if the divisions/batts are below 50%.

The 2nd number is how many operation points this HQ has.
On typical DIv screen; " 45 INF DIV (280:33%)"...numbers?

280 is the size of the division.... 33% is the readiness of the division
On AC sreen; "Range: 10"...=hexes? Endurance =?

Yes
For airlift Supply: how estimate needed AC and Load?

This is very hard to do as the number of planes taking off varies. It seems to me that air supply works best on divisions with low supply and has a lesser effect on units with a higher supply
How is RECON handled and how can i influence it?

You can always see korps that are next to 1 of your korps, HQ's are always seen too. Recon is handled randomly. Having 10 airwings in a HQ is the best way to improve recon up too a range of 10 hexes.'

For higher level HQs (OKH, Army groups).. how do players set/recommend computer control?

Never
For bombing airfields...how estimate number AC/load for damage?

The number of planes taking off varies and the attack on the airfield is random. If you have a nice target use your best bombers and hit it repeatidly.

Matrix is the best place to get questions answered

The best way to play the game is against another player. Try to get someone with the same experience as you for a more enjoyable game.
