Wow they've lost a ton of tanks too. Are you able to fly in troops or does his CAP devastate your transport planes to much?
Then it hit me so hard...like a perfect diamond shot me right in the forehead, the will to do something like that

Nice job the both of you. I am surprised to see Andy fly his B-29 at the minimum 6.000 feet against your Figthers... Wouldn't you have more losses and him less if he fly the super at 10-15.000 feet ? with more than 200 of them I dont think he will lack too much in payload delivery...

Remember that this is a STOCK game, AA effect is minimal in stock and 4E accuracy is maximal at 6000 feet.... 200 B-29's have a HUGE detection value, so the chance of escaping fighter interception by bombing at higher altitude is almost nill..

So bombing at higher altitudes would decrease accuracy, but would yield about the same losses as bombing from 6000 feet...

I have expended most transport ac by now. Trying to rebuild a few units but it will take time.
Uber CAP shoots down most flying object around Amami.

Today I readied another 600 fighters and 400 bombers.
Had hoped to both weaken the enemy CAG even more and then hit the carriers at Amami.

Some fighters were sent on LRCAP, these did a good job - even a few Shindens somehow managed to
stray in.

The sweep fighters came in piecemeal - even those launched from the same base. Why is this [&:]
Had hoped to weaken enemy Uber CAP - or at least disrupt it. Think we succeeded, but not enough to
allow enough bombers to get through.

Kamikaze ac launched in dribs and drabs while the only 'big strike' was another mediocre affair were
most bombers stayed home. It's so frustrating - we have the means to finish the enemy but the game
just doesn't allow me enough coordination to use them [:(]

We only sank a destroyer today, but another CVE was reported sunk (another 2 had lucky escapes from our LBA).
It took with it 25 Corsairs to the bottom [:D]

Enemy surface ships also caused some carnage but quite a few troop ships managed to unload and I'm hoping that
Amami can hold for a while. Supplies are getting scarce and I'm concentrating on running in more from now on.

In India Dehli fell - it's a slow campaign. I'm only trying to hold on to Bombay and Karachi for as long as possible
and tie up enemy resources.

I thought that even in the stock game the fighter performance were alterated by altitude....

only the Airacobra is hit by a penalty if operating over 10.000ft. No difference for all other aircraft.

Well, resources are dwindling but the Empire can manage another round of Total War!
I can feel the enemy's resolve is dwindling and our troops are beginning to think they can prevail [8D]

Today enemy fleets left Amami for the first time and although we lost another dozen transports most of the troops
are ashore and supply situation improved. Bad weather gave us a much needed respite and all major bases in Okinawas
and Amami are back in business [:D]

No more retreat but only fight!!!!!

Next time wAndy returns Shindens will drop from the sky like a blitz of lightning
Hopefully the Allies will understand that the Empire can not be defeated and sue for peace soon!

First I would like to say that I am a big fan of this AAR. As an Allied Fanboy, it is a tutorial in defensive strategy. Not that you could have been stopped in early 1942 but seeing what you have accomplished is a strong warning to all us AFB that we are in a precarious position to start the war and better act like it.

Second I would like to respond to a couple of statements that were made:

Gee PZB
you lost more planes this week than I build against tabpub in 6 months!

OH, to have such resources at my fingertips

Your running of the Japanese economy may be your greatest triumph here. Per my previous post I am amazed at the resources you still have available at this stage of the game[&o] That said, WiTP is so obviously tilted to the Japanese as far as this goes that it is silly. I'm guessing you stopped Nate and Nell production immediately and converted those units to Oscars and Betty's (SOP for JFB from what I've read). What if the Allied player could stop P-39 production on 8 Dec 1941 and convert all those factories to P-40's? What if the Allied player could stop say B-26 production and convert all those factories to B-24's? And of course as soon as P-38's came on line, all P-40 production would cease. But no the Allied player keeps producing lesser types long after the better ones become available. Just saying if the playing field were level, it would change the game

Hopefully the Allies will understand that the Empire can not be defeated and sue for peace soon!

No offense but from a historical view Japan has lost. It's access to SRA is cut and it's economy will soon grind to a halt. That said, I have to wonder if your play had been the historical model if Japan really might have been able to sue for peace in 1942 on its terms and get it. With the fall of India, if Japan had then turn south to Oz and threatened to annex the Aussies, maybe the Allies would have listened. Makes one wonder. I honestly beleive that if the real war had gone the way your game went, there was a truly good chance the UK at least would have capitulated. One wonders. So in my mind, Emporer PZBito has already won the war.

The Arunta is one of the lucky ships together with the carrier Wasp [8|]

Thx Vettim, I was pretty green when I started plaing this game. Was my first WitP game
ever and I had very little experience with production. So whether I stopped, started or converted correctly
is impossible to say. The only thing I was aware of was that I should not increase production or facilities
to much.

Andy was appalled to find the Singapore repair yards had not been expanded at all when he marched in there [;)]
The same applies for a lot of factories, shipyards etc. I have simply converted factories and only slightly increased
them in size. Engine factories needed to be expanded, but even here I see that more would have been needed.

The B26 Marauder was a medium bomber, so I don't think it would be possible to convert it into producing
heavy bombers in a game without PDU. But I understand your point and I also see that Japan is squeezed into a corner.

Andy has pushed beyond almost all limits and capabilities in order to pursue an invasion of Japan and maybe pull of
a last minute victory. I'm not like Hoepner who continues to play the gent when Troll goes rampaging using any means.
My policy is an eye for an eye and if Andy pursues a strategy of massive death and destruction without any consideration
for his men and ships - I do the same and feel that the Japanese were much more obliged to obey such an order than the Allies were.

All honor to Andy, he has made this game a lot more exciting than I thought it could become back in 42 when India fell.
I'm still going to do my best to show that the cost of not securing your supply lines before conducting another 'jump' is to costly in the long run.

I'm pretty sure a real life invasion of Japan would have been immensely costly, mostly for the Japs but also for the poor Marines that would have to slug it out with millions of die hard troops and militia.

The only way Japan could have secured a separate peace with the Allies would be if the USSR surrendered to Germany.
Then I think the Allies would have had to concentrate all their strength to defeat the biggest evil and most dangerous foe.
The Nazi war machine was a lot more modern and dangerous to the Allies than the Empire of Japan could ever become.
If Germany was defeated Japan would be doomed....

HMAS Arunta was awarded 48 battle stars, one Victoria Cross, twenty-five Georges Cross, one Congressional Medal of Honor, two Presidential Citations, three Legion d'Honneur & one order of Lenin for its Allied service in the Pacific. It is now a floating museum in Sydney.

If true, then instead of going for India youshould have taken out the USSR. While not nearly as fun from the game perspective perhaps but in terms of course of the World War, perhaps actually better serving Japan's end game. Could the Russians have survived if facing a two front war in 1942. Historically we saw what it did to the Germans. While part of me has a hard time seeing the Allies capitulating to the Japanese under any circumstances, part of me wonders what would have been the effect of losing India entirely. An intesting picture would be India in Japanese hand and Japenes troops massed in SE Australia ready to put the Coup d' Grace on Oz. What if the Japanese made overtures at that point? Certainly a point for conjecture but it is an interesting scenario

To bad I didn't go to Sydney when I was down under...only had an old frigate in Brisbane!

I've never been to happy with the ground combat model in WitP so I never considered invading the USSR.
The invasion of China was stopped because ground combat wasn't working properly.
India I mostly considered as an amph invasion.

From a historical point of view there is no doubt that Japan would have been much better of helping Germany,
but they had entirely their own agenda and after receiving a spanking in 39' they weren't keen on another conflict with the Russians.

I also think the Japs were overstretched as it was by mid 1942.
A campaign into India could have succeeded if supported by a major internal uprising.

I suggest that you read "Nemesis" by Max Hastings - the Battle for Japan, 44-45.
Excellent read. He also wrote "Armageddon" - same story for Germany, 44-45.

That's our alternative reality version of HMAS Arunta, Admiral [:-]
Do you believe any ship could somehow expect to get 48 battle stars, 1 VC and 1 CMOH in the real war? This is not the HMAS Arunta from the real war - this is the lucky HMAS Arunta from the great, murderous, PzB war [:D]
