Vorsteher Barbarossa

Post by rickier65 »

Vorsteher,

For your Barbarosa scenario, there is no zip file on the community site. You have an image and scenario entry - but no download.

Also, do you want to put it in the sandbox, since it sounds like you are not quite satisfied that it's ready for approval (I think you said it's beta version).

And thanks, the image looks good, looking forward to seeing whole scenario.

I got several downloads from advancedtactics.org, bigger and smaller scenarios and never had any problems with
downloading or unzipping the files.

Vorsteher,

downloaded your Barbarossa - The map and units look really nice. You are missing a couple (3) graphics images.

I haven't started playing it yet.

The map orientation will probably give folks some problems. Most of us get used to seeing maps with North to the top of the map, rather than with East to the top. But I have seen a few older games that did this to get the hex "grain" the way they wanted it.

I have no German skills, so the turn briefing is kinda lost on me, (though I did understand that weather was clear the first turn!).

Thanks
Rick

I sent a pm, but the files are:

russian\zerstorer\gnevy.jpg
axis\zerstorer\z1934.jpg
and eventbilder\nachjager

I noticed that the above names had umlauts over either the o in zerstorer or the a in nachjager - I dont know if that's the problem or not. I actually found the images in the directory - but on my system, the letters with umlauts are replaced by a symbol. I think that is the problem.

Yeah I have the same problem with this map orientation, it's north-south. I think most gamers are used to the west-east orientation.

Very impressive graphics Vorsteher.
(My thoughts)
- Having the map turned is not a major factor. Most people are just used to East West maps.(Minor issue as far as I'm concerned)
- The size of the stacks are big. The stack penality could have a major impact on combat.
- there are a lot of excess HQ's in the field.

None of these things would keep me from voting to approve. Just some food for thought.

FYI... after some more testing I haven't noticed the overstack being much of a factor.

I've been play testing this with Vorsteher. We've got through about 12 turns. Nicely done game, though I wasn't able to do much damage to the Soviet air. I like the the limited number of Victory pts. It makes it easy to see things on the Strategic map.

I understand Vorsteher has the final version finished. I plan to take a look at it shortly.
